Question about early enrollees

They count for this years class. Previously 3 could be backcounted if the prior class was under 25 but new SEC anti-oversigning rules prohibit it. Solid 25 limit, no more back counting.

You must also always be at or under 85 total 'ships

25 players over a 5 year period is 125 kids. You only can have 85.

If you get quality recruits and develop them you will average under 25 ships per year.

Or you can go the Tennessee/Bama route and trapdoor dead weight upperclassmen and sign the max number of kids every year

Just my interpretation but you can still count back (assuming there is room under the 25/85 limits). I have never seen a link to the actual language of the rule.

You could (again, assuming there is room): (1) sign 25 including early enrollees, count the early enrollees back, and simply not have a full 25-initial-counter-limit class for the current year (would be decreased by the number who could count back); or (2) sign 25 summer/fall enrollees and have them all count for the current class, but simply have your early (spring) enrollees not sign LOI's (nobody HAS to sign one) so they don't count against the SEC's 25-LOI limit.

I really don't think the SEC cares if guys are counted back. I think what they care about are guys being promised they have a spot then being asked to grayshirt.

Thanks for that article. I've read probably 20 articles released on the day of the rulings and almost everyone have some different interpretations of what actually was decided. It's the most confusing mess I've seen in a while. I don't think anyone but the compliance people actually know what the correct rule is. We'll all be confused again next year. I don't know how to link but I've read articles that absolutely contradict parts of that article. Unreal.
