LSU currently has 2 QB's committed. But if you were able to choose which two would you take?
247 2020 LSU Class Breakdown

Max Johnson 247

247 2020 LSU Class Breakdown

This is a bit of uncharted territory for the Tigers. LSU typically has found themselves chasing a quarterback in the offseason leading up to their senior seasons, as was the case in the 2018 cycle, all the way through National Signing Day - where they came up empty. The Tigers rebounded and landed Joe Burrow as a graduate transfer, then signed four-star Peter Parrish in the 2019 class. In between those additions, the Tigers built on the 2020 class by adding Louisiana's top quarterback prospect and a four-star on the 247Sports Composite. Finley a big arm and great size, and having him on board allows them to build the pieces around their quarterback class.

LSU followed up Finley's commitment by landing a verbal pledge from Johnson in November, just after he wrapped up his junior year. A number of teams were in the mix for his signature, but Johnson said he felt comfortable with getting on board with LSU's class and the direction the program was headed. The Tigers then won a New Year's Six Bowl and got Johnson back to campus this spring for Junior Day and the Spring Game, where he once again reaffirmed his commitment and added that he now plans to enroll early at LSU next January, giving him a head start on the rest of the 2020 class when it comes to balancing school and work with the team.

Haynes King 247
247Sports Composite: No. 4 dual threat-style QB, No. 109 overall, No. 14 in Texas
Longview News Journal: Haynes King Write Up

Haynes finished his junior season 183-of-273 passing for 3,677 yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions passing. He added 71 carries for 576 yards and eight touchdowns. He hit the 50-touchdown mark with a scoring catch as well. He re-wrote virtually every school record passing-wise.
He capped a junior season where he was named the Associated Press Texas Offensive Player of the Year, the Class 6A AP Offensive Player of the Year and a Built Ford Tough Player of the Year candidate with a career-best 425 passing yards in Longview’s 35-34 win over West Brook.

I have the opinion that King is the best of the 3.
So I'd want him and Finley probably, but him and Johnson would be fine.

Tbh I think Finley probably has the highest ceiling of any of them. I think you take Finley and one of King or Johnson. Probably King.

I'd love to have Haynes King in this class, but I'm not taking 3 QBs and I'm not "processing" one of those currently committed.
Keep recruiting King and if one of our current commits has a change of heart then go all out for King.

If Finley was from Georgia he probably wouldn’t be in this class and King would IMO.

Longview needs to stop lying. That's Colt McCoy.

Finley has the most potential
Max is the most polished
Haynes is probably the best all around QB. His ability to run really puts him ahead for me. 6’3” guy with legit 4.5 speed is very attractive at QB
I’ll be happy if we land 1 of the 3.
Finley has so much potential and the thought of him and 5 Wide and just firing about he field sounds pretty awesome.
Haynes is a great athlete, coaches son and has had a ton of success at the HS level. Brandon Harris was a similar prospect as Haynes coming out too though, you never know.
Max’s production is concerning but his film at the Opening is salty. Not to mention you know he’s gonna be extremely cerebral.
I’d be happy with any of the 3. Good coaching should be able to develop any of the 3 into a quality SEC QB.

As hard as it to decide.
It’s a damn good problem to have.

Is anyone concerned with Max playing on a losing team? I know it isn’t his fault but just being a winner is definitely a trait you look for in a QB, I think.

Dan Mullen better not get this kid.
Because he'd be fricking scary in that system.

I mean the state of Texas just pumps out QB talent. And I will say like I have before that I am biased.

Thinking of a certain former LSU QB?
Posted on 5/2/19 at 5:30 pm to Salviati
How many years does Baldwin have? I’d think continuing to take transfers would put a bad taste in future QB recruiting. That’s also me believing Brennan will take over comfortably next season though so LSU wouldn’t have to.

So if we take Johnson and Finley this class and still have parish for 4 years assuming he red shirts and Brennan for 2 more years, do we wait until 2022 to take a QB and not take one 2021?

Have you seen how bad Ponchatoula has been?

I think people are getting a little carried away with the King hype because he’s the shiny new toy with ties to LSU. He’s a good player but I don’t think he’s a can’t miss type guy. None of the big schools seem to be recruiting him all that hard, and if you watch the Dallas opening film closely you can kinda start to see why. He has great instincts in the pocket and that makes his jr season highlight reel exciting, but it’s hard to tell how good his arm really is. The opening shows the release is a bit slow and winding, and he throws up a few ducks. Most everything from him has a wobble to it. His feet are pretty good, but he’s rail thin and will need to bulk up a lot to play at the next level, especially if he is gonna be a runner. I think he’s more of a project than the rankings would indicate. Don’t get me wrong I would be glad to have him if our one of our other guys moved on but at the moment I think King is third on the list. Commence the downvotes.

King clearly looks more polished than Johnson
