Sent my buddy that coaches at West Monroe a text about him. I'll let y'all know what he says about him.

Apparently the 2021 team mate is a good punter?

Yeah he's already committed, Peyton Todd. He was at the game with Daniel last night.

"Hell yeah man! Daniel is a great kid and a great athlete. He has also started at left tackle for us for the last two years. Crazy thing about Daniel is we didn't even know he could snap until this summer. He hasn't even been doing this for a year but he's probably the best hs snapper I've ever seen. LSU got a great one!"

What happened to the GA elite long snapper pipeline? I mean, if we can get the same level from LA, I’m all for it. But these GA guys had some special training/coaching and haven’t botched anything in 8-10 years running?

Edited for typo: ouch, rough one in place of ‘botched’

Dude's name is Skinner, from Buford I believe. RS this year and take over in 2020.

It is. According to McMahon, this kid is a carbon copy of Skinner. Same build and skillset. Other schools would kill for one kid that's this level, and we have two now.

Thinking about this (and I haven't heard this officially from anyone -- this is just me spitballing), it makes sense for us to fill more special-teams positions with PWOs from now on.

In the Miles era, when we had a killer defense and a ball-control offense, field position was critical, and we needed to use scholarships to get the very best guys in the country to play LS, P, and K. There also wasn't a 25-per-year hard signing cap.

Those positions are obviously still important, but they aren't as important to us as they were five years ago (or even one year ago), so I think we can probably fill more of them with PWOs and only occasionally have to use a scholarship (if and when PWOs turn out to be insufficient).

Peyton Todd may be the best athlete West Monroe has and he was bombing 50 yarders against Destrehan...he is the best punter to come out of Louisiana since Donnie Jones. Too bad West Monroe as a program is a shell of its former self.

There was a 25 per year limit on initial counters then too, just as there is now. The new signing limit simply puts a high price on signing athletes who are unqualified (or don't show up), because you can't replace them with a recruit who is qualified.

Remind me one more time why preferred walk-ons don't count against the limit? Is it because they either have no academic scholarship or what?

Couldn't disagree more. You worked your arse off for it, and if a coach is interested he knows immediately you're eligible and not any sort of risk.
