PSA: Stars matter again today

Some days stars don’t matter and we need to trust the evals of the LSU staff because they know better than everyone else.
And then there are days like today where the stars matter and fans need to trust that the staff is going to sign the best players at the positions of need.
No, these cannot happen on the same day, as this is mutually exclusive.
No I cannot say when we will go back to when rankings won’t matter.
Yes, there will be another PSA.
Oh and one last thing...yes, stars have always mattered. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
For every Jacob Hester and *Justin* Jefferson, there’s a Rashard Lawrence, Kristina Fulton, Derek Stingley, Michael Divinity, “Apu” Ika, Jamarr Chase, Terrace Marshal etc and so on and so forth.

Why is Jefferson included with Hester? Hester fits into the category of a low rated player that ended up being really good while Jefferson was a highly rated recruit that turned out to be terrible. They’re exact opposites.

Coaches don’t give players star rankings, the player is still evaluated then offered if the coaches see fit no matter their ranking by a website

I’m very happy. I am always happy when LSU lands highly rated in-state players.
There has never been a blue chip from La. who committed to LSU that made me sad.

Recruiting is about as straightforward as it gets: sign the best players available.
The last guy was pretty good at it, won 75% of his games following that formula. After a dud of a 2018 class, O is cookin with the 2019 and 2020 classes.
I don’t see anyone complaining about highly ranked players committing. A lot different from last week when people were wondering why LSU is taking 3* JUCO kids with only 8 spots left.
