Potential 3* Bumps Per Speigs

LINK
Click the link though, because he goes into much more detail about each guy.
Happy Thanksgiving!
quote:
Micah Baskerville, 3-star LB (Shreveport, La.)
Micah Baskerville has made his case to not only be ranked as a 4-star linebacker but is very much in the discussion as the best linebacker in Louisiana and a top-five in-state prospect overall.
quote:
Chris Curry, 3-star RB (Lehigh Acres, Fla.)
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back made his case as one of the most underrated prospects in all the country.
quote:
Tae Provens, 3-star ATH (Gurley, Ala.)
By trade, Tae Provens is listed as an athlete, but make no mistake he is a running back capable of seeing action as a runner, a receiver out of the backfield and the ideal candidate to see work on gadget plays.
quote:
Dantrieze Scott, 3-star DE (Ferriday, La.)
Arguably the biggest sleeper in Louisiana’s 2018 recruiting class, my first glimpse of Dantrieze Scott came at LSU’s June 7-on-7 and lineman camp. Scott was splitting reps at defensive end and outside linebacker and dominating the competition with Dennis Johnson and Ed Orgeron looking on closely.
quote:
Cameron Wire, 3-star OT (Gonzales, La.)
The East Ascension High School standout plays angry. Wire is aggressive as a run and pass blocker and has accounted for double-digit pancakes in each of the games he has played in this season. He plays with great explosiveness and is a student of the game, which shows in his footwork.
quote:
Jaray Jenkins, 3-star WR (Jena, La.)
At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Jenkins has the ability to play inside or outside and will be a major asset for the LSU passing game after he gets back to full strength. He is both quick and fast, meaning he gets in and out of his breaks with great timing and can also separate from defensive backs with ease. Jenkins is one of the steals of the class for the Tigers.
quote:
Cole Smith, 3-star OL (Pontotoc, Miss.)
At 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds, Smith sees snaps at offensive tackle, guard and defensive end for his high school team. What stands out the most is the violent streak he plays with at all of those positions.

Do they typically wait until the HS seasons are over to re-assess these kids?

Good read, hope he is right. His comments are persuasive.
That said, the comments are from a writer who covers LSU. You could make a case virtually every three star committed anywhere is under rated for one reason or another and should be a four start.

Its a neat article but I doubt any of them get a bump.

They all have good measurables. Don’t care about the stars.

Definitely. I think final rankings come out in January after the all star games.

This. They will be close to 4 stars but composite 3

I think it's likely that a few end up as 4*. Curry, Baskerville, Smith and Jenkins already are 4* on at least one recruiting service. Smith is our overall highest rated recruit on ESPN. Also, he's not even on this list, but Travez Moore is our highest rated recruit on Rivals.
In real life, I don't think it really matters whether they actually get a fourth star, but it's fun to talk about.

Who cares? I am sick of high ranking classes that are heavy on 4 and 5 sttars who our coach plans to never throw an actuall pass. We need to recruit who we like at positions of need.

Coach O has an eye for talent for sure. Bumps or not he’s signed some solid sec caliber players.

Agree but I'm hoping the other staff members evaluate talent at their positions as O does DL. Im not putting my trust in O's eval skills past the DL but I do think their are some quality players in the class that sometimes are shitted on by some of our fans.
All the whining about the class is a little "drama queen" mindset. We only need 15 or so of the kids to really make a mark on the program for it to be a successful class. We've had some classes loaded with 4 and 5* talent that have struggled to produce that many. It's why most schools over sign. If kids ain't cutting it they'll find their way out or overrecruited. The lines and RB are key in this class though. Need those JC OL and need them to be hits

He has been the recruiting coordinator at several stops and I'm sure he is not the only person evaluating talent. But, I get what you are saying.

I'm a star gazer and I don't see any of these guys jumping up 2 stars. I want a bunch of 5 *'s like bama, osu, and uga like we used to

Nope, Alabama offer is worth one star, then commitment to BAMA may add a second star.

Me too...It's not cool to sit back and pump sunshine into mediocre recruiting. Times have really changed around here.
