Peyton Todd starting at LB for WM
Our all world punter commit is now the starting LB at West Monroe. I heard his name called for making the tackle on the first or second play of the game and it caught me off guard. I’m glad to see they were finally able to convince mom to let him get a little more involved bc he’s a really good athlete. And he still kicks the crap out of it. The news said he had one that went 70-80 yards, but I wasn’t there to know if that actually happened. Great kid and glad he’s committed to the good guys.

re: Peyton Todd starting at LB for WM
That dude booted a freaking 70 yard punt from the endzone to the 30 yard line the other night. Tight spiral and all. In the damn air too. Wasn't a hopper.

This dude here....

Gotta love a punter that can tackle.

And the fact that he’s 6’5 210 and has this year and next to get bigger means he won’t be an easy win for a return guy/blocker.

He commented on a video on twitter of him hitting a long one. I don't have the link but I'm sure it would be easily found.

I watched the game and he is a stud for sure, but West Monroe doesn't look anything close to what they were under Shows.

Heard they have several big injuries right now. Not sure who all it is, but seemed like several difference makers.

The only difference maker is the DB Jason Cooper with an ACL. He could be a fringe 5 star guy ( certainly a high 4 star because he's that athletic ) but apparently, he doesn't really care about working hard and being great at anything. This is known by coaches, teammates, etc. If he did, he'd be the best on the field ( offense or defense ) when healthy.

Losing Malcolm Moore and Kahmann is huge brother.

Moore has experience and played since this freshman season man

I don't even know what to say about Kahmann. That isn't a huge loss? Come on man.

Called my coaching buddy at WM today, Moore apparently got good news and will be back in the next couple of weeks. Kahmann was getting a 2nd opinion today on his shoulder and may not be out all season. They don't know yet. They have Longview in 2 weeks in Shreveport, so they'll get a look at Haynes King first hand.

My kid returns punts for Byrd who plays WM Friday. Hope he gets a chance to field one of his punts. Not sure we can stop them though. We really struggled against Brother Martin.

re: Peyton Todd starting at LB for WM
Last time a player got good news they werent ready. Gleason and Swanner two years ago. Both players weren't near their full potential. Moore will be serviceable but don't expect him to change the complection of their defense once he returns from that injury.

Hilton is injured for Zachary also and they do not expect him back until possibly middle of the season. That has to hurt his recruitment and ranking. Last year he was not the first option and benefited tremendously from Whitfield, Simmons, and Davis (all seniors and gone). Not a good look as i hear he can play but chooses not to until he is 100%.

Those are NOW big losses ( because of depth ), but I took Vol's meaning of "difference makers" as more than just good high school players. To me difference makers are 4+ star rated players.
I had forgotten about Moore, but I was also told that he could be better sooner rather than later - I may be wrong. A disruptive D lineman can absolutely be a good player, but he's not a top 200 player in the state of La.

The Kahmann thing is different. Is he even considered a top 300 player in the state of La? For an organization as big as WM, it's inconceivable that WM doesn't have an ATHLETE ready as his number 2. Since Shows passed, their organizational skills are absolutely terrible. It's ok that they have loved GK since West Ridge Middle School, but it's not OK to have all of their eggs in that one basket. If you're around the community much, you've heard the "next man up" mantra that's been going on the last 10 days. In reality, it's laughable because they don't have a plan for real organizational depth from top to bottom. It's unbelievable how far behind the times they are now as an organization.

Anyway, now I'm venting and screwing up the Peyton Todd thread. Obviously, he's worked hard at his punting and will be a strong addition to LSU in the near future.

I usually don’t post on here, but football is secondary to Jason Cooper go look at his grades, and then make your comments about him, these are kids trying to make it but it’s people like you trying to down their character, you know and I know Jason one of the top athletes around this area, unfortunately he suffer this injury that should of never happened

No offense to Jason meant at all! I meant no disrespect to him nor his family. I passed along what his friends, teammates, etc have said about him. I definitely could have worded my post better because very few know everything that's going on with a person. Everyone knows he's a great athlete and if academics is the most important thing to him, then EVERYONE should applaud that - I definitely do. I was near him when he suffered the first unnecessary injury at WRMS on the bad field. You can see above my negativity regarding the current WMHS organization as a whole. In truth, all I was told is that he has an ACL injury, but was not told (nor did I ask) how it happened. If you say that it never should have happened, then I certainly believe you.

re: Peyton Todd starting at LB for WM
They almost won a state title last season and the last 3 seasons too though.. can't be too bad out there.

Now, if theyvwere in DI? Different story. Shows owned all those schools and beat Curtis the one time he faced them. Shows was and is still the best HC in North Louisiana history.

To me, the fact that those Catholic schools have now surpassed WM in terms of organization and development, especially offensively, is a symptom of regression of some sorts.

I can't imagine a Shows coached team being inferior to the Catholic schools he once owned.
