6'6" 270 is a nice frame to start molding

Thoughts?

We need dlinemen after missing so many last class. Physically he can step in and contribute immediately in the dline rotation. We won't have to depend on the freshman class as much

Can’t sign enough Athletic big men that can move well.

Contribute immediately? Guy is a nice prospect but he’s raw as hell. Not going to be a serious contributor for a couple of years

He isn't anymore raw than the freshmen he'd come in with except he will have two years of physical development on them

I didn't say he'd start. He'd easily step into a backup role at DE.

He could be. He grew up in Gambia and moved to the US in 8th grade, I think.

Never thrilled about having to redshirt juco. Beats the purpose.

ETA. I’m also pissed about Soni not being eligible yet.

You take juco to play right away. Then you redshirt the true fresh to beef up.

Gaye is too early of a take, hes way too raw and had 8 tackles as a backup in JUCO last season, you wait on a guy like that. It not like you get him for 3-4 years, JUCOs need to be immediate impact.

Not necessarily. It's not like many redshirt freshmen are ready to contribute. Talent being equal, you'd rather have a 19 year old RSFR over a 21-22 year old RSJR?

Apparently the coaching staff sees something that they like because another poster said they were high on him. They obviously see something that some of us don't. I'm going to look at his film again and see if there's something I missed. I can say that he ran a RB down from behind 20 yards down the field. That's impressive for a DE.

Dude moves very well for a player that size. Been a long time since LSU had a dlineman that tall. I'm hoping he will contribute on the dline.

He going to be good. I can understand now that I've looked why the coaches like him.

Talent being equal? Is this a trick question?

These guys aren't at juco because they lack talented.

i know but the premise is too easy.

You asked if the talent was equal, what would i rather:

A rsfr or rsjr......easy for me. I want the rsfr and that is where we may part ways.

If a JUCO can't come in and add depth at least in the three deep, then I'd rather just get a frosh that can do the same but have 4 years to try to play.

It's going to hard to accept if TK McClendon and Soni Fanua arent able to come in and at least spell pettigrew at TE and Some DEs. Here's why.

TE
Jamal Pettigrew 6-7 245 jr
——--T.K. McClendon 6-4 255 jr
Thaddeus Moss 6-3 240 jr
——-Charles Turner 6-4 245 fr
——Ray Parker 6-5 250 fr

You want to put distance between your Juco and your true frosh. If one of turner and parker play tight end because TK was not able to back up Moss and Pettigrew, then TK is a JR again, while parker/turner move to soph. The idea was always to RS parker/turner for more than one reason.

E
Rashard Lawrence 6-3 310 sr
Neil Farrell 6-4 300 jr
————Soni Fanua 6-4 265 jr

NT
Breiden Fehoko 6-3 300 sr
Tyler Shelvin 6-2 340 so
------Siaki Ika 6-3 345 fr
------Joseph Evans 6-3 315 fr

E
Glen Logan 6-4 300 jr
Justin Thomas 6-4 270 jr
Nelson Jenkins 6-4 300 fr

If Soni can't contribute (granted due to grades) then we have 5 defensive ends to play with all year. He was given a scholarship as a Juco for a reason. And redshirting is never one of them.
