Who can forget Parker Edwards shooting display against LSU last season? With LSU up by a large margin against SELU Parker Edwards, a 6'3" guard was inserted into the SELU lineup. He went on a 6 for 8 3 point shooting barrage that frustrated every LSU player that tried to stop him. In just more than 10 minutes he scored a game-high 25 points. It was a remarkable performance that drew a rare standing ovation from the Tiger faithful in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. A shooting exhibition not unlike those the Assembly Centers namesake performed nearly 50 years before. Edwards, who lost his redshirt year when he was inserted into the game, has transferred to LSU and will play as a walk-on in the 2019/2020 season. It's not certain at this time if Edwards will be redshirted his first season at LSU or if LSU Head Coach Will Wade plans to utilize his talents in this upcoming season. Regardless, those same Tiger fans who applauded Edwards as he walked off the Assembly Center floor that night hope he can deliver more of that same performance
for LSU and coach Wade.

I was shocked to read it. But pleasantly surprised.

It was in the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate this AM. I will see if it's online and post it here.

No sure what the reason was that he didn't play more for SELU but by looking at his stats, he scored points when given good minutes. It was just surprising he wasn't given more.

What? He is a transfer, how could he possibly be eligible this upcoming season.

He is a shooter and you must give shooters the shots. Even a good shooter may start a game off by going 0 for 4 or 5, but you keep feeding him the ball and he hits the next 4 or 5 shots in a row. IDK if Wade plans on red-shirting him and developing him physically or not. He wasn't a bad athlete. Came off screens good and got loose several times. I will be interested to see how his development goes.

Not certain. I know players going from an FBS to a FCS school are eligible immediately, not sure about vice versa. The article didn't mention him redshirting or sitting out, so IDK. SELU's HC resigned after the season and I know incoming freshmen can get immediate release from their LOI and go elsewhere and play immediately, not sure about current players.

They are both D1 basketball schools. He will not be eligible.

I know SELU is a FCS school and football players going from LSU to SELU are immediately eligible. I guess there's different rules for basketball players.

Pretty sure you’re wrong. The southeastern coach left and he will be immediately eligible per the new transfer guidelines the NCAA is using.

I was wondering about that and tried searching the internet to find some info. Just couldn't find anything. The article didn't mention he would be redshirting. So I wasn't sure if that was the plan. Anyway, thanks for the info.

This has a Mike Hansen feel to it. He lit us up with Tennessee-Martin and then transferred to LSU the next year.

Well I guess Wade feels it won’t cost him anything being a walk-on. How many walk ons can a team have anyway?

Maybe if you transfer and don't accept a scholarship you can play right away? Just a guess.

i remember going to a game at the PMAC about 10 years ago for a game against McNeese. There was a Hispanic guy that was lightning us up from 3. I can’t remember his name but the way Parker lit us up reminded me of it.

I'm still reading up on the different scenarios. Seems to be a few exceptions to the rule. Coach leaving, scholarship or no scholarship etc. This may affect Mike Williams transferring from Texas to LSU, since he isn't on scholarship at LSU maybe that means he can play immediately. Not that he will, just eligible to do so.
