Per Barton Simmons.... dude has 5 star talent, but grades were always an issue. Some believed we could have snatched him up soon after grades were resolved.

Is Charlotte D2 or FCS? I’ve never heard of it before

My guess is they were willing to sign him right now and other were not going to take the risk.

IF Charlotte gets him eligible this year, I guarantee he'll transfer afterwards. Using them to get him eligible, playing and then transferring would give him a chance to transfer with 3, as opposed to going juco and transferring with 2.

Now if they can't get him eligible, it's a waste.

If Charlotte is Academically Red Shirting him if he couldn't get his grades right. Why couldn't LSU? If he is 5 star talent....just a question?

If he took a scholarship from us and didn’t qualify, we would lose that spot. We may think using it on a transfer or saving it for an early enrollee would be more beneficial. They would only do so if they didn’t believe his grades would get there and seeing as no other major program took the risk, it is likely his grade are in worse shape than we believed.

Will Healy is a really good coach and will be at a p5 program in ~4 years. Not that bad of a spot to go

UNC-Charlotte is a glorified community college. Charlotte is not a great town for college life either...though UNCC really is pretty far outside of downtown Charlotte.
