On3 5-star OT Jonathan Daniels visiting LSU

quote:

“Oh my God, it has taken off,” Daniels told TheBengalTiger.com of his recruitment earlier this month. “Sky’s the limit. I just thank God for putting me in the right position and following the right path,” he said. “Georgia, LSU, FSU, Auburn, a couple more. Everybody’s just got a connection and communicating with me.”

The trip will be Daniels’ second as a recruit in Baton Rouge after he visited this fall for a game. This time though, he’ll get to spend more time with offensive line coach Brad Davis, something he said he’s looking forward to.

quote:

As it stands now, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Florida State is the heavy favorite to land Daniels. The RPM gives the Seminoles a 90.9 percent chance of securing his commitment.

“They’ve made me their top target, No. 1,” Daniels told On3. ” … It’s mostly the bond that I have with coach (Mike) Norvell and coach Atkins,” Daniels said. “We talk almost every day. We play and then when I come down there, it’s like I’m at home.”

Sounds like an uphill battle with FSU. He's been on their campus something like 6+ times... but ya never know.

So basically almost zero chance we land this guy but I guess you have to try anyway.

Zero chance? The fact that the kid took the time to visit shows LSU is in it

For the most part I subscribe to the Shea Dixon “Pay attention to where the recruit visits not what the recruit says” mantra .. And that’s mostly true, but Desmond Ricks visited LSU more than any other school last cycle. Wound up at Bama. Just one example, but like you said.. never know.

Define “in it”.

Do we have a slim chance? Sure. Hell so does Jim Bob’s Jr College in Bumfrick, Nebraska. But the odds ain’t with us and as someone said up above, you have to wonder if time spent with a long shot recruit like this is really worth it over spending more time with a recruit who may not be as good but is still a damn good player that we actually might have at least a 25 to 50% chance of getting. Like I said though, even if it’s a long shot, you got to at least try.

His first (unofficial) visit was in the Fall for the Alabama upset. Big game that really impressed him and put LSU in the minds of a bunch of recruits

He's a stud and Brad Davis is apparently swinging for the fences this year with his class

Gotta think David has momentum with the two stud Freshmen starters last year.

Now, he just needs a good hire for the DL coach who can recruit and develop and LSU will be golden. I have confidence that BK can get it done!

Right. He needs a good D Line coach to develop the D Line that he will go up against in practice every day.
