I have us getting pretty close to 85 scholarships, which is a good bit different than the assumption most of us have been operating under.

So here we go...

QB (3) - Myles Brennan, Garrett Nussmaier, Walker Howard

RB (6) - John Emery, Noah Cain, Corey Kiner, Armoni Goodwin, Josh Williams, Andrew Paul

WR (10) - Kayshon Boutte, Jaray Jenkins, Jack Bech, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas, Deion Smith, Chris Hilton, Kyren Lacy, Landon Ibieta, John Rutledge

TE (5) - Jack Mashburn, Kole Taylor, Mason Taylor, Danny Lewis, [unknown transfer portal addition]

OL (16) - Cameron Wire, Tre'Mond Shorts, Anthony Bradford, Kardell Thomas, Charles Turner, Thomas Perry, Marlon Martinez, Marcus Dumervil, Xavier Hill, Garrett Dellinger, Kimo Makeanole, Myles Frazier, Will Campbell, Emory Jones, Bo Bordelon, Fitz West

K/P (3) - Nathan Dibert, Jay Bramblett, Peyton Todd

LS (2) - Quenton Skinner, Slade Roy

DE (5) - Ali Gaye, Soni Fonua, Jarell Cherry, Savion Jones, Quency Wiggins

NT/DT (7) - Jaquelin Roy, Joe Evans, Jacobian Guillory, Masson Smith, Mekhi Wingo, Bryce Langston, Tygee Hill

EDGE (4) - BJ Ojulari, Desmond Little, Philip Webb, Zavier Carter

LB (9) - Micah Baskerville, Jared Small, Lorenzo McCaskill, Mike Jones, Greg Penn, West Weeks, Josh White, Antoine Sampah, DeMario Tolan

CB (7) - Mekhi Garner, Jay Ward, Greg Brooks, Tre Bradford (theoretically moved from RB in spring), Laterrance Welch, Jordan Allen, [unknown transfer portal addition]

S (9) - Joe Foucha, Todd Harris, Sage Ryan, Major Burns, Jordan Toles, Pig Cage, Derrick Davis, Matthew Langlois, Jacoby Matthews

That's 82.

It envisions taking Matthews, Paul (instead of Citizen), Rutledge and Danny Lewis as high school recruits and grabbing McCaskill out of the portal, probably after spring practice assuming his academics are in order, plus two more guys out of the portal at CB and at TE. I think that leaves one space open.

And now a 2-deep depth chart...

WR - Jaray Jenkins/Brian Thomas
LT - Myles Frazier/Cameron Wire
LG - Marlon Martinez/Emory Jones
C - Tre'Mond Shorts/Charles Turner
RG - Garrett Dellinger/Xavier Hill
RT - Will Campbell/Anthony Bradford
TE - Unknown/Jack Mashburn
WR - Kayshon Boutte/Malik Nabers
WR - Jack Bech/Deion Smith (or Kyren Lacy)
QB - Myles Brennan/Garrett Nussmaier
RB - John Emery/Noah Cain

DE - Ali Gaye/Soni Fonua
DT - Masson Smith/Mekhi Wingo
NT - Jacquelin Roy/Jacobian Guillory
EDGE - BJ Ojulari/Desmond Little
LB - Micah Baskerville/Greg Penn
LB - Mike Jones/Lorenzo McCaskill
LB - Jared Small/West Weeks
CB - Mekhi Garner/Laterrance Welch
CB - Jay Ward/Tre Bradford
NB - Greg Brooks/Sage Ryan
SS - Joe Foucha/Pig Cage
FS - Jacoby Matthews/Major Burns

Nice breakdown. I don't think LSU will run into 85 man issues because the current roster will lose players to the portal post spring due to depth chart and not meshing with new coaches.

What about RB Bradford?

Oh, you have him at CB?

Was gonna ask the same thing. Don't expect much playing time from him anyway though.

Yeah, I'm thinking they've got to move somebody over to corner because the numbers there are just horrible, even with taking another transfer in the spring, and of all the possibilities he just seems like the guy best suited for a switch.

It would either be Bradford or it'd be Nabers or Hilton from WR, and I'm guessing that would be far too painful.

Good breakdown.

Goes to show that the loudness of the negatigers is not so much warranted.

BK is building a solid foundation from the ground up - success is built the same way, it takes time.

But from the looks of it, it could be a lot quicker than most think, especially with the transfer portal.

I'm putting him in there instead of Citizen, because I'm just not feeling it from that kid.

But if you want, you can put Ajay Allen as the last RB. I just went with Paul.

Guess I needed to read a little bit farthur.

Yeah I guess what you say makes sense even though I don't expect that to happen, but I hope the CB position is healthy this year. If not, we're screwed.

We've got to add two more corners on top of moving Ward over there.

If we do that by bringing in two guys from the portal, which might mean sacrificing a WR or LB we might want to add, I wouldn't oppose it.

But it's easier if you can switch a guy who isn't otherwise likely to contribute and manufacture a contributor.

The other position where finding a guy is key would be tight end. I keep wondering if Cherry isn't a possibility there. I don't see him being a factor at the DE spot, because he'll be buried behind Gaye and Fonua this year and next year I'd expect Jones and Wiggins to pass him. He's 6-2 and 259, which is pretty good tight end size, he's a weight room nut which might translate into blocking, and he ran track in high school, which might indicate some decent speed. If he can catch at all he could make himself useful there.

Soni Fonua is out of eligibility, I believe.

Also, where are Raydarious Jones and McGhee in the secondary?

I'll go on record again as saying Lacy from Lafayette will be a stud. Send them baws to DB if need be.
