I count 5 OLine recruits for 2019 so far with Parker perhaps being the most athletic? I know Coach O wants the more nimble guys who can move and pass protect in the "new" offense so I am also intrigued by the progress Rosenthal may have made in moving to the OLine! He pretty much has the typical Left Tackle build and I believe he redshirted? Thoughts??

I think we got a bunch of OGs again with some TEs they are hoping to make OTs down the road. We haven't recruited a pure tackle in years.

People are basing this on?

Thomas And Bradford are listed at 350+
Perry is listed at 320

Parker and Turner are smaller but you have to assume we’re banking on them growing into their frames.

I can't wait to see what Parker can do after a redshirt year or a year playing blocking TE. That kid is athletic af.

I don't think, based on his HS film, Rosenthal has the agility to play left tackle. Wire looked athletic enough and Bradford is very athletic, but Bradford has guard size. Really though, when you get to the heart of the matter, blocking is blocking regardless of height. You either have someone in front of you or you don't. With zone blocking it doesn't matter where the defense is lined up, you block in an area. The only real exception is left tackle where you must have someone fleet of foot enough to block edge rushers. An Olineman has to be the second smartest player on the field. And that attribute is important to understand blocking schemes and zones. But, if a guy can block, he can block, doesn't matter which position he actually lines up at.

Rosenthal has the physical tools to play left tackle at a high level.

Will he? That’s the question.

I agree Parker could eventually play tackle, but if he plays next year it will likely be at TE. If he’s really 265 as listed he needs to put on 25-30 pounds at minimum to play OT in the SEC.

Thomas, Perry, and Bradford all look like guards to me. Maybe one could play RT but they would be similar to Deculus out there. Deculus would be better at guard imo, but somebody has to play there.

Our oline will be much improved next year. We will have experienced starters that are used to playing with each other, experienced depth, and we have some young talent coming in that should spark competition for a starting spot, which improves everyone's play. Our offense will be much more efficient next season with our line improving like it should and LSU getting 2 stud rbs to run behind them. It's going to make a huge difference. Can't wait honestly.

Yep, I love this coming O-Line recruiting class. Bradford is the tipping point. He is definitely too heavy right now, but is very athletic for that size. If LSU can slim him down, he absolutely has the tools to be a dominant L-Tackle in the SEC.

Will he hose the weight? Will he ut in the work? I have no idea. But to deny his potential - just based on the excess weight - is foolish.

And what film did you view of Rosenthal? He was listed as a top 5 offensive tackle in the nation by every recruiting service. Alabama recruited him hard as a left tackle and received his commitment before he flipped to LSU. I am looking forward to him this spring

Which recruiting service had Rosenthal listed as a top 5 OT? ESPN ranked him at number 26 OT, 247 number 24 DT, Rivals number 26 DT. LSU recruited him as a DT, when that didn't work out he switched to OL. So, IDK what service you are talking about.

Completely agree, we played Ruston in jamboree and I couldn't believe how athletic that kid was for his size, he's listed at 275, he looked closer to 285-290 to me,was also crushing multiple defenders on almost every play, crazy potential for this kid, he caught a swing pass, broke a tackle and outran our secondary for a 50-60 yard TD

Eh, that’s not what happened.

Guy looks like an OT, plays better as an OT, but wanted to be a DT.

They gave him a shot but eventually moved him to his better position.

It’s not like they wanted him at DL and we’re like “nah this guy sucks better try him at OL”

You would have had to follow his recruitment in real-time. Those recruiting sites don't show historical information about ratings and position switches.

He was a highly rated OT committed to Bama, but he didn't want to play OT, he wanted to play DL. Bama didn't have a spot for him at DL, so he decommitted.

His recruiting ranking dropped because he wasn't nearly as good of a DL recruit as an OL recruit, but he was insistent about playing DL in college, so that's what the services had to rate him as.

Same thing happened with Chassen Hines.

This has to be a troll. The first play on his highlight reel is Dare catching a jump ball in the end zone for a touchdown.

The video has him split out wide catching passes, running QBs and RBs down from behind in the backfield, blocking punts, and pancaking multiple defenders on the same play.

Dare Rosenthal has plenty of athletic ability and should be a very good left tackle. Now the coaches just need to go into juco and find a right tackle.

If Rosenthal can win the LT job, Charles will make a very good RT.

Looks like both Thomas and Bradford could stand to lose at least 30 pounds each. Thomas looked Really slow against some better competition, namely Jacquelin Roy! Luckily they will be teammates. Bigger isn't always better when it comes to o-line.
