Kind of a head scratcher I thought there were high hopes for Peyton Todd

I hate having to use these scholarship on special teamers like this, but I guess when there's a need we have to get it done.

Peyton Todd is not yet ready to punt in the SEC, is the nice way of saying it

Like I pointed out two weeks ago when Bramblett first entered the portal. He was always coming to LSU.

He’s a great punter. Also, already got his bachelor’s degree from ND and 2 years eligibility left I believe.

Averaged 44.1 per kick and 16 inside the 20. Sounds like he is the real deal.

Avery Atkins was nothing special as a punter. If Peyton Todd was ready, he would've punted last season.

Obviously, there is some issue with him, either injury or ability.

He averages 43.1 yards per punt. 3 punts inside the 20 last season so that shouldn't affect average that much.

By comparison, Atkins who wasn't a great punter averaged 42.6 so not a big difference.

There must be something seriously wrong with Todd to make this move.

Bramblett is terrific.

What sucks is that we already use a scholarship on a long snapper and a punter and yet the new staff has to spend more in order to get those positions right.

Just atrocious roster management by the previous staff.

So will we have 2 punters on full scholarship? Guessing Todd will hit the portal if he not good enough to play.

Bramblett ranked 31st nationally in punting average this year heading into the bowl game. He averaged 43.8 yards per punt this year and 41.9 for his career. His average improved in each of his three years at Notre Dame, and he kicked a career-long 72-yarder this year.

This season, Bramblett placed 21 of his 58 punts inside the 20-yard line. Just 14 of them were returned and for an average of 5.86 yards. In 2020, returners averaged just 3.67 yards when running back Bramblett’s punts. In 2019, that figure was 3.89. Through three years, only one return of a Bramblett punt went for longer than 20 yards.

I thought PT was the #1 punter in HS in his class?

I thought I read he got injured but surely him not seeing the field is due to lack of ability.

I went by ESPN stats.
Jay Bramblett
The 3 punts inside the 20 seemed really low.

Maybe we're moving Peyton Todd to LB.

There's probably nothing wrong with Todd, he's just a RS freshman on a depleted roster without any other punters. This is the same stuff we've been dealing with for a couple years. You just cant constantly put all your eggs into one freshman basket. If Todd got hurt, who would punt next year if we hadnt brought Bramblett in?

Those rankings come from kicking camps. For some reason it’s not rolling over into competition.

Then he shouldn't have been a 5*.

If anyone has watched warmups this year, they know that Peyton Todd only kicks ducks

We aren't getting to full scholarship allotment this year anyway I don't think. Doesn't really matter. One will be gone after the season I assume.
