NIL and LSU
Posted by GeauxTigers_11

it is time to rally the troops, gather your resources, and start paying these top level recruits to get them to LSU. The narrative of having a high functioning national championship caliber program developing three stars into high level SEC starters is just totally naive and wishful thinking. You want to play with the big boys, you have to recruit the big boys. Tired of seeing LSU losing recruiting battles to the same ole people. Texas, Texas A&M, OU, and Alabama will all be more competitive in the new SEC if LSU does not pay to play.

Trust me there’s lots of proud Louisiana guys who care about LSU that are in the building or close to the program. You think they want to keep losing these battles? One thing some of you just can’t grasp. We don’t have the money to compete with those schools. We just don’t. I know it sucks to believe but it’s true. NIL is slowly drowning us.

Our defense has more 5 stars than the offense. And yet…

Yeah NIL was causing soft arm tackles and low effort.

Yes, start with 100,000 of LSU die hard fans donating $100/year. That would buy more than 20 bluechip players each year.

I’m seeing a lot of NIL this and NiL that with LSU.
Then I see what we’re pulling off on offense (4th currently) and it doesn’t seem like we have a recruiting issue or NIL issue. Seems more like unrealistic expectations issue to me.
10 year contracts = complete rebuilds.
CBK simply needs time. Just wait till we got top 5 defense to compliment our Offense

This has been said a bunch but I’ll reiterate it. We have money. Sometimes it’s about money and coaching relationships. Aggies, texas, and other staffs are raiding our state because Frank, Davis, and Hankton can’t do it all. Some other guys gotta start carrying weight. Those staffs are light years better than ours when it comes to recruiting.
The defensive coaches simply aren’t good recruiters. If Jamar Cain was here I’d bet we get McKinley. We currently don’t have a DL coach.
Steeples and Cooks are dog shite coaches and recruiters. Steeples has
no business as a high level D1 DB coach. Cooks was an awful hire from the start. OU secondary was awful and he was a terrible recruiter there.

I spoke with Verge and he told me it isn't NIL. It's our actual recruiting skills that are lacking.
As this poster mentioned^ some of our staff aren't pulling their weight.

Absolutely bull shite and false. We had two guys trying to one-up each other to the tune of $8K+ on fricking jello shots.

We have money and we have people ready to spend it. We also have a coach that has made it known he prefers to not get into bidding wars. The entire recruiting mindset need to change immediately and I believe it will.

It isn't all that slowly. We beat Bama and won the West last year. This year, after game 5, we're more likely to skip bowl season than win 9 games.

Sure. We're not broke. But we don't have the money that Texas, aTm and UGA has available - across the board. For whatever, coaches, facilities AND NIL recruiting.
You don't have to believe that for it to be true. For every Jim Bernard or Todd Graves that LSU has, Texas (Austin) has 5 or 6 Bud Brighams, Michael Dells, Rex Tillersons, John Hankes spilling out everywhere. If a public university could be called a billionaire's school, UT is it.

Texas does not have "unlimited" funds for NIL. Christ. These dudes ain't cutting million dollar checks to 18yr olds. LSU will finish in the top 10 in every recruiting cycle form here on out. That's the baseline. Kelly starts going below 10 and you can say there's a problem.

They're increasing ticket prices next year. Seems it would be a better idea to say if you donate $100 to Bayou Traditions your ticket prices stay the same.

As a season ticket holder id gladly donate 100 dollars a season to NIL. Just know that i expect a great product on the field and not the piss poor effort and terrible coaching i witnessed on saturday.

I hope so. We aren't winning titles without 5* dudes on the field. We better start getting into these "bidding wars" if we want to remain an elite program. I hate that but that's the sport unless a CBA is enacted.

This is true. But do you think that all of that money is being thrown at 18 yo unproven talent in football? I find it hard to believe that these players are getting the money being mentioned on this board. And if they are, then I find it hard to believe a place with the resources, pedigree and rabid fanbase like LSU would simply fold on competing on player after player.
It seems much more likely that this staff just missed on some high profile kids in Louisiana last year and this year. Misses that wouldn’t have been so severe without the post 2019 dumpster fire that LSU football became.

We have sufficient money to compete. Just look at the hundreds of millions poured into this program in the last 20 years.

Agree! Pay these players you want.. you are targeting them for one reason only and that is to win!
If you have to pay an absurd amount of money and you are winning and filling the stadium, it pays for itself and then some!
Winning cures all pain
