Marcel Brooks up to #58 from #195. Emery moved up, Kardell and Sopsher moved down. Palmer, Bradford, Lee stayed about the same.

Hope we see Hampton, Davis, and Starks right outside of the top 100 tomorrow.

Man looking at that list, there are so many SDE that LSU could have just took a shot in the dark at a long time ago and made some ground up. Some of those Purdue, South Carlina and the smaller schools that we have a leg up on nationally. Just need to contact them and see where their heads are but do it early and try to get visits.

according to that site we have 3 five stars which is the most of any team so far. and Emery is 2 spots away from being a 5 star. so we basically have 4

One thing I gathered from that is that Texas is getting slaughtered in state, by A&M and Oklahoma mainly, but LSU, Ohio State and others have top commits as well.

You should email the recruiting staff. They probably didn’t realize that

Texas is getting some good players in California though. Taking advantage of weak Pac 12.

You can have down years in La and need to go OOS. You should never have to recruit OOS if you are Texas. The talent they have across that state in unreal.

Still several OT uncommitted. Be nice to nab one.

Why have we not been pressing hard on Constantin? The U-high LB drought continues. At least this one didn't commit to Bama like the other 2

That's a bad trend though

These new rankings moved LSU up to the 4th overall team ranking.

Here's why - Meet Marcel Brooks

Also, Christian Harris has never once played linebacker.

As long as Chip Kelly thinks he can cash paychecks and not recruit, maybe they can keep it going over there.

Well they obviously aren't doing something right and I've been an O backer from the day he was hired. He wouldn't have been my choice but since he's our HC I've backed him.

He's done a great job except for this area and what ever they're doing isn't getting it done so maybe they actually do need some advice from someone. They need to copy what the successful schools are doing when it comes to recruiting the DL, OL and QBs. If they do that, this program will soar.

You don't think he's working on getting the lines better? This year, we actually had a little depth, unlike the last two years where we had zero depth, and next year, depending on who stays could be our first year with quality depth in no telling how long. And look out if anyone actually develops into an elite linemen during the off-season.

Based on the realities of the DL player pool the last few years, I think they're doing ok.

2017 we missed on 3 guys who could have helped tremendously, but this was Orgeron's first class as HC, so I think the misses are understandable. We still got 2 guys who should be big contributors next year and a 3rd who will hopefully develop.

2018 there weren't any elite prospects in the area, but I think they did a good job of loading up lower ranked guys. Hopefully their evaluations will be accurate and the guys will develop.

2019 is disappointing so far, but people who have seen Evans really seem to like him and there's still time to add another couple of guys, so I'm not ready to blow a gasket.

I agree with you and as far as 2020 goes it’s looking like we could land our best defensive line class ever.

We actually absolutely had more depth last year on the DL than this year. We simply were better on the DL this year than last year. We weren't very talented last year and/or those guys didnt play as much (Alexander for instance).

We pretty much rotated 6 guys on the DL last year though - Lacouture, Gilmore, Lawrence, Herron (once eligible), Alexander & Logan.

This year it was really primarily 5 guys in Lawrence, Fehoko, Logan, Alexander and Farrell. Shelvin mostly just got mop up snaps (SELA, Ark, Rice) but did start to become part of things latter half of season.

I hate to speculate and put all of our hope into a class over a year away, but some will inevitably decide to play for a NC at Bama rather then try and help our team get there. Hopefully I'm wrong.
