Dunham's Micheal Williams who was considered a "back up plan" for LSU commits to Texas. Very athletic kid, wish LSU had room for him. Maybe good news if LSU told him they didn't have room.

This is a win win for both parties. LSU apparently didn’t have room and a local kid still gets to go to a good academic school with a storied program.

As long as we get his teammate next year, I’m cool with it. Good luck Michael!

I thought I read somewhere that this kid was a grades risk?

They did this primarily for Derek Stingley.

Or they did it because he’s a good football player. Which he is.

Correct. And because they need DL in a big way and that's where that want him. Will be interesting to see if he actually signs. Everyone says hes not likely to make it. Hope he does

While I agree he is a good football player. IMO I think he would have been better off at a school like Ole Miss or Alabama.

Texas plays in the Big12, all spread teams. Needs to really work on his speed and lateral ability to have success.

Again this move was primarily made to "hook" in his friend and HS teammate Derek Stingley. It's a win/win for Texas. I'm rooting for him.

Texas is killing it in recruiting. Sucks because we play them in 2019

They are but its not a even class. Heavy on skill players. They need about 10 ol the next couple of classes.
To the poster above talking about mobility and the sort , hes a DE for them. Not gonna be playing in space much. Just line up and rush the passer and defend the zone read.

I used to subscribe to this narrative too, but I just took a look and it's actually filling out nicely for them. It's still a little light, but they now have 7 linemen, 4 of which are offensive tackles.

Position was also a holdup.
Where do you play him?
Is he good enough to be SEC caliber DE?

I see it differently. He is a big man with enormous speed for a man his size, and is perfect for the Big 12. He was my dark horse candidate for this class with the Tigers, but we ran out of room. Good luck to him.

Michael is a little over 6' at 240 lbs. I believe he would be best served as a 3-4 JACK/BUCK LB vs 3-4 DE. He's naturally built like Devin White but lacks the speed and explosiveness to play ROVER LB. Now he's going to have to get a lot bigger (+20-30 lbs) while maintaining his speed and explosiveness. I believe he would have seen the field sooner had he he went to Ole Miss or Bama.
