Following Miller's commitment to Colorado, LSU has never missed out any home grown receiver talent except Smith. Off the top of my head in the last 10 years -

Big miss
D Smith

Decent careers elsewhere
Coleman, Tyron Johnson, Kirk Merritt

Busts
Destyn Hill, Ja'Khi Douglas, Slade, Devonta Jason, Mykel Jones, Daylon Charlot, Speedy Noil, Cam Sims, Falkins

Yet to be seen
Preston, Decoldest

Anyone missing?

Yet to be seen:

Depends on if Kendrick Law plays Wr. I am not really sure.

Would Slade Bolden really be considered a "bust"? He got significant PT for a pretty good team 2 states to the east, even as a freshman.

Law was seeing snaps at WR later on in the year for Bama.

Law played 5 games this season at WR, and was the only of the 3 WRs from the state that went to bama to contribute.

About 700 receiving yards and 4 TDs in 4 years. Zero receptions/ yard as freshman. How do you classify that

By all indications, Makiya Tongue is a name to add to the "bust" category at this point in his college career.

ETA: I don't know what category you would put these guys in because it ain't bust or miss:
1) Damonte Coxie was a beast in college at Memphis from 2017-2019. I believe this is the kid that was committed to LSU but had grade issues. Could be wrong though...
2) Stanley Morgan is another name I would add but unsure category. He had a pretty good career @ Nebraska before entering NFL.
3) Jazz Ferguson: didn't do much @ LSU, went off at NSU in 2018 before going to NFL.

I would classify Bolden as having a very successful football career, and so would nearly anybody else without P &G glasses on.
After red shirting he played three years, and was one of Bama's special team stars. He returned punts, played some QB as a wildcat QB and played a lot of WR with championship teams.
Not everybody is all-SEC.
I suspect he is happy with choosing Alabama, especially with LSU's collapse under Orgeron beginning after 2019.

Jets and Devonta were in the same signing class - 2017.

Devonta was a miss but it was certainly mitigated by the "big 3" as you put it.

Chris Henry from Belle Chasse played at WVU.

Bolden was certainly not a bust. He was a solid role player.

But in recruiting terms, I would not consider him a loss.

Exactly my point. Majority of the guys we want and get turn out to be productive. The ones we lost did not really do much elsewhere - talking only about their college production. LSU will be fine in the long run and Miller should not be a big loss.

Agree. And you could expand that beyond the WR position.

I look at kids objectively, so believe me when i say Bolden was your run of the mill 3 star that barely contributes in his college career at a big time program.

Yeah playing a bunch of positions while barely doing anything at either really isn't a great career.

He probably is happy he chose Bama, he wanted to go to Bama all along, there is nothing special about this.

For example Russell Gage wasn't all SEC either. Gage was a kid that you could say was a guy without a position as well. The only difference between him and Bolden was that Gage had better talent. Neither did much in their college careers, but Gage is still playing in the NFL as a #3 WR. Will Bolden be doing that 6 years from now?

Seems like you feel some type of way about this.
