Hoping those 3 pitchers coming in with Bergeron will be an up grade from what they have now, although Kilponen and Sunseri are no slouches. And hopefully Beth can get the team to the WS before she finds herself sitting on a hot seat.

Anna Jones signs with Texas State. Good luck to her in the future. I hope she gets all the playing time she could want, she seems like a good kid.

So what’s the scoop on Chaffin? Can she come in next year and produce in the circle? Also what type of pitcher is she? Power or finesse? Up or down? I don’t know much about her but she mist be very talented if she made the junior national team.

I kinda expect her to get a bit of time next year, potentially 3rd in the rotation with behind Sunseri/Kilponen depending on what Wickersham shows up next year. She throws in the mid 60's, gets to about 67-68 at most. Good jump on her rise ball. Kinda throws everything. She dealt with an injury this year but pitched great during the back half of season in post season. She has had a strong summer so far with the bombers and obviously had a great showing at the national team camp to get selected among that group.

She has been working with Beth for a while at pitching camps but she has been getting lessons from former LSU pitcher Brittany Mack. .

Thanks 357....3 good programs. Were we in on any of them?

Also, what have you heard on Coach Torina's contract status? I heard that it expires tomorrow. Am I mistaken?

Pretty disappointed LSU hasn’t been able to land any help from the portal. Looking like 2B, 3B and catcher are going to be very suspect positions defensively and offensively.

I believe losing Doyle will end up being a bigger loss than the big loss of Andrews. Could be a tough year.

One glaring issue to me is how large the current roster is (mid 20's) and that could be impacting scholarship money availability. You simply aren't going to land a top transfer unless you have a good chunk of money available.

If thats the issue we can't do much until roster space (money) opens up. Kids will simply have to develop and get much better this offseason.

With the talent coming in over the next two seasons, I am not sure why players like Hayden Brown and Taylor Edwards are still on the roster. Neither player got any real playing time this year and it is only going to get more crowded at those positions. If they were All Americans in the rough we would have seen more of an effort to play them. I understand some of the true freshman not playing (hopefully were given a redshirt) but if we need space for transfers, those are the first two I would look at.

Hayden Brown? You must be referring to someone else. Brown was a true frosh and top 50 recruit.

Yes, who is a clear 3rd on the depth chart. Finding a catcher in the portal to bridge the gap till Bergeron gets to campus is part of what was being discussed. As it stands now once Bergeron gets here there will be 4 catchers on the roster. (The Cummins extra year) If Brown couldn't jump Calland in playing time and Cummins isn't the answer, you would have to find room for a transfer somewhere. Brown or Calland would be the choice so I said Brown since she didn't see the field much this year. Obviously there are so many moving parts that we aren't privy to but in general those are the players/positions I would look at when trying to make room for transfers.

Brown was not given a single opportunity outside maybe a game or two. She was much higher recruited player than Calland. Torina has historically rolled with upperclassmen more than true frosh in general. Calland, though I think is a great kid, I don't think is the answer either. Hard to develop or evaluate without live game reps. I know the coaches obviously know more than we do seeing the kids practice every day but practice and real games can be very different.

Just my two cents, the coaches seem to role with select players and don't seem to deviate much outside of that group (lack of competition). You have a roster of near 30 kids, we didn't attempt to use it at times.
