Andrews literally had one extra base last year.

I don’t comment on softball much but I’ll say this.

If Andrews had 47 doubles would that be good for a lead off? It doesn’t really matter how you get to second rather it be a double or a hit and a steal. Her job is to set the table for Sanchez(s), Sunseri and Doyle. Not many in the country have had more success doing that than Andrews had this year.

It’s her job to get on and run. It’s not her job to produce RBIs but instead to produce runs. Each player has a role and Andrews is one of the best in the country at hers.

She doesn’t need to worry about extra base hits. She needs to get on base, steal and score on just about any hit. She is a true weapon on both sides of the ball.

Just my opinion for what it’s worth.

That would be correct. We are lucky to have her.

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
Not trying to look too far ahead but the number one recruiting class in 2020 is slowly approaching. Not trying to skip next year, which I think will be a very good year. We lose 6 seniors, but we have people in place to replace them. However the only seniors for next year team are Andrews, Doyle, And Gorsuch. We bring in 8 very good and highly ranked players, with the lowest being Laney Roos who is ranked 111 and brings something we’ve never had (at least I’ve never seen). A left handed pitcher.

We’ll have a senior Sunseri, juniors in Stewart and Clark, sophomores in Gutierrez, Pleasants, and Briggs. And then the number 1 recruiting class.

I know MANY things can change in two years, BUT after the 2020 team (who I think with consistent hitting can make it back to the WCWS), we pretty much are bringing back the entire team in 2021 (lose Andrews, Gorsuch, Doyle) and in 2022 (only starter is Sunseri).

All I know is, the future is BRIGHT

Ok y'all, let the transfer roulette spin in our favor....

Hearing Baylee Klingler from A&M has some legit interest in LSU and is considering coming in for a visit. She is a very good player and was on the Junior National team this summer. She is also looking at Texas and a couple PAC 12 schools.

Main issue is the interconfertnce transfer rules unless she somehow could get a waiver. I know she is really close with a few current kids on our team and is familiar with Coach Dobson. I am not sure how this would exactly work...

I looked her up wouldn't be a bad pickup. Just said she played infield where at on the infield?

She played 1B at A&M but she could easily play 2B. Doyle is good enough to play 3B. We have options.

Supposedly she is starting her visits this coming weekend. Washington is rumored to be her first visit. I think its safe to say Texas is getting one of her other visits. Heard she will visit LSU but not sure exactly when.

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
That’s the problem. She plays the corner infield spot so 3rd or first. With Doyle probably moving over to third and Gutierrez and Clark fighting at 1st, she isn’t really a position of need. Which makes it even tougher is she will probably have to sit a year, which will increase our 2020 incoming class to 9 players, which is a lot. She personally has better fits other places and also won’t have to sit if she transfers out of conference. If she wants to stay close to home, Texas, Houston, Baylor, and ULL have open spots at the corner infield spots.

The bigger issue is that she would potentially sit out a year so not sure the reason why LSU is in the picture unless there is something we don't know about.

That said, Gutierrez and Doyle are very versatile athletes and could play almost most positions on the infield. You can get the best bats on the field then try to make it work defensively. They are versatile enough to make it work. I just don't see Klinger ending up in BR mainly due to the in conference transfer rules but she is coming to visit. Again I am just reporting what I have heard, I don't know every detail of this yet.

We likely are a backup plan.

She played 1st for half the season and 3rd the second half. Played good defense and way more hitting potential than her numbers showed. But yeah I doubt she's sitting out a year.

Is she from Houston? Any relation to former Houston QB David Klingler?

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
Klingler is visiting Washington right now. LSU and Texas are her next stops this coming week.

I wish I had access to that portal, would love to see who some of the other kids that are in it. Things may get busier through the month of June in terms of that transfer portal. Not a lot of "big" names so far. Mia Camuso is heading to Lafayette, they are loading up on a lot of Power 5 transfers. Alexis Mack is rumored to be heading to Alabama, though Texas is still in the picture.

Echols was the most ideal transfer, a big bat in the infield but she is heading to Florida.

re: LSU Softball Commitment List/Recruiting Info
One of my former players is in the portal, she was offensive MVP as a freshman this year for an awful A&M Corpus Christi team that fired the whole coaching staff. She threw her name in there waiting to see who the new coach is going to be. Would love to be able to see the portal and also wonder what may happen to her if she decides to stay. Wonder how other players are treated after they put their name out there.... I think mine will be ok to go back since there will be a new staff.

News that Mariah Lopez from Oklahoma has entered the portal. She’s probably looking for somewhere to be the Ace.

Heard LSU is going to try to get her in for a visit. She would be a one year thing as she would be a senior next year. Not sure if they would use up scholarship money on a pitcher over an infielder at this point but I have a difficult time seeing torina pass up a pitcher with those type of numbers (no offense to current pitchers) and no big infielders in the portal.

2019 stats: 19-1, 1.25 ERA, 159K's 27BB's in 117.2 IP

Some guy on the softball forum alleges LSU is on her shortlist but we will see. If there aren't much options in the portal, I am all for this. Arizona seems like the school that stands out as they were her 2nd choice coming out of HS. Wonder if she would follow Lombardi...
