LSU hosting Cal grad transfer RB Tre Watson
quote:

“I want to thank BYU for recruiting me, but unfortunately the timing of things will conflict with the rest of my recruitment,” Watson posted to Twitter on Sunday evening. “That being said, I will no longer be able to visit BYU and my next trip will be LSU on April 27.”

quote:

He started in eight games and appeared in 37 games during his four years at Cal, with his biggest year coming in 2016, when he rushed for 709 yards and four touchdowns and hauled in 21 catches for 241 yards and four touchdowns.

FYI missed most of last year due to injury hence the extra year of eligibility

Could provide some quality experience and depth until some of the younger guys like Curry come along.

ETA : 2016 Highlights

Bonus: At the 1:20 mark you can see he does a good job of executing the option to the short side of the field

assuming he's healthy, I like the pick up. he looks versatile with good speed.

I like it. Looks faster than Brossette, so he could be a real help. I think CEH will be very good and Curry too, but you need four backs in the SEC.

Probably a good sign for us that he cancelled the BYU trip

This could be a really underrated pick up if we can get him on board

Hosting a transfer won't go over well with Emery

You do realize that Watson would be gone by the time Emery would come aboard right? Not sure if serious or I just missed the joke.

Provens and Curry will surprise a lot of people along with CEH with that being said. Watson would provide some serious depth at the RB position. I loved his 17' highlight tape

if for depth and pass protection experience purposes, I'm down with it. From a talent standpoint, I seen nothing in his game the young guys shouldn't be able to provide.

.....the whole time watching his clips I was saying to myself, "Guice would have broke that tackle". #Spoiled

Experienced kid. Good size, good agility.
Could blossom behind a decent line.
I like the interest here.

Hell yes. He has great feet, is really a decisive runner , has the speed to hit the corner, makes quick cuts, has great hands, can run inside, breaks tackles, pretty much everything besides elite speed. IF, he's a good kid and he is healthy, I don't see why you wouldn't add him to the thin stable. I mean, that's a no-brainer. Tre Watson would be in the rotation day one.

This, great hands probably will not be used as an inside runner in the SEC but a great option on the edge.

I totally agree. He is a talented player. As to his speed, I didn’t see anyone catch him from behind. I’d like to know his 40 time. He’s got speed, power, elusiveness and hands. A complete package.

Yes, no need to hurry Curry.
