LSU has a realistic shot to have a Top 3 overall class according to the rankings.

247 has transfer portal rankings, and overall rankings (which is HS and transfer combined).
If LSU were to land Citizen, Lewis, and Matthews (which is pretty likely) then that would bump LSU up to 3 overall in the team rankings behind Alabama, Texas AM at 321 points.
With more transfers on the way.
This is very impressive.

For those interested this is how I figured this out.
LSU right now without transfers points is sitting at a total score of 218.
With transfers they are at 265 points.
According to class calculator Matthews rated at 28 points, Citizen at 23, and Lewis at 6 (rounded up)
All of those added up would be 57.
265+57 would be 322. Which would be 3rd overall.

With Brian Polian laying out the big board and all of our Louisiana recruiting dogs being unleashed, our roster will be lethal in 2 years.

If LSU were to maybe sneak up and get for example Douglas (along with Citizen, Lewis, Matthews) it would bump them at number 1 potentially.
It is very possible to be at even number 1 overall.
Incredible.

How many spots does LSU have left?
I’d really like to see them grab the kid from Okie St

I think 8
Prolly 3-4 HS guys. May wait till after spring ball to reassess for the final couple portal spots.

Ok so are u saying that Bama and A&M & Georgia are finished taking in every kid for their class ? So LSU can take all the best available recruits and transfers ?

That would be nothing short of miraculous considering where we were 6 weeks ago.
One of the best jobs ever.

Unfortunately in two years how many will have transferred out.

It would be sweet just to jump Notre Shame.

maybe not as many as typically would. It seems we are getting only high school guys that are immediate or a year away type players this year. Transfers cover the gaps…. alignment

We’ll simply replace them with other portal transfers. We’re doing exactly that right now and it will only get easier as Kelly proves himself at LSU.

Unfortunately the math isn’t that straightforward. 247 uses an algorithm that assigns less than that full player value according to the other players in the recruiting class.
To prove that - look at the recruit number right now, which is 219, + the transfer number is 72, but the overall number is only 265. Pretty significant discount from just the straight math.
So total guess here, but assuming we reel in Matthews, Citizen, Lewis and one of Burton/Douglas, it’s probable that we end up 5th/6th but going much higher than that likely isn’t possible at this point.
That said, 5th/6th given where we were at one point is a win in my book.

Wish a few of those HS recruits from here would have held out and not committed in December

No doubt. But I don’t blame them for committing - O left the program is total disarray, there wasn’t a head coach until right before signing day, position coaches weren’t all in place… and all the while you’ve got guys like Golding and Saban that have multi-year relationships with the kids.
The staff still has some work cut out for it in 2023 to fully get up to speed with kids (like with the QB class, where we’re not fully in it with Arch, Holstein from Zachry is committed to 8&4 and another top kid from the Boot [can’t recall his name right now] is a Purdue commit).
I’m confident that by 2024, that fence will be fully back in place though.

Seriously...NIL just takes away so much from having a great recruiting staff. The cat is out of the bag in terms of NIL but hopefully there can be some fixes put in place where money isn't all that matters. A$M is the only example that's needed. Top-ranked kids will even go to College Station and play for Dumbo Fisher for enough money!
