Gym 101 is this week! Who is everyone most looking forward to seeing and what are you most looking forward to seeing on each event?

I have not seen any of the intrasquads but have heard great things so I am incredibly excited for Friday.

Vault: Chase’s upgrade, Kam’s vault, also looking forward to seeing how close to post season form these vaults are. Granted we don’t want to be there until later in the season but the sooner we start working towards the sticks and such, especially more consistently, the better off we’ll be.

Bars: Kai’s comeback, Aleah’s new bar routine, and also lineup order: will Kiya be moved to the back half of the lineup (personally think she should be our number 5 and have someone like Kai lead us off who’s just as clean and capable of hitting a high score but isn’t typically in the all around so a lead off bars score for her won’t impact her AA score too much week after week). Also hoping to see Elena on bars this friday and throughout the season.

Beam: I am hoping to see Livvy on beam (even if it’s just an exhibition routine on Friday but I would love to see her in the lineup throughout the season). On beam specifically, lineup order (which covid seniors will make the lineup and which won’t) and routine construction is what I am most interested in, especially with regards to the leaps and how well we execute them.

Floor: Aleah’s routine (even if it’s just a dance through), Kai’s routine (hopefully), as well as Christina’s final floor routine and Sierra’s sophomore routine. Knowing Courtney choreographed the routines and is the primary floor coach, and knowing her history with regards to how she coached floor over at Utah and Arkansas, I am interested to see how that translates over to us with regards to routine difficulty in the tumbling passes and the leaps. I know that there are some girls she’s coached who are capable of doing more difficult routines but between Courtney and the gymnast, she’s had them opt for a cleaner slightly less difficult routine. Wondering if that has carried over to us at all

I am looking forward to seeing where all the freshmen might contribute. Also really looking forward to Dunne on other events, Arenas on bars, and Kai's return of course. Would like to see how much the super seniors might appear in lineups. Hoping there will be positive changes in floor cheorography/style and beam composition.

Doesn’t look like it. I looked at the tv listings for Friday on the SEC+ Network and didn’t see it.

They were supposed to be televised by SECN+ but not sure why they wouldn't be, it has been annually for a while.

I am just hopeful we utilize the Super Seniors as much, and only as much, as we need too.

I think this means:

Desiderio: Beam only, but rotate others into the leadoff spot as well for practice (I know her floor is maybe looking better - but that has been so streaky over the years)

Durante: Bars only (her beam is very inconsistent and her Yfull, while improved, should hopefully not be needed)

Edwards: Vault only (floor as a back up - I love her personality and dance on floor, but I think she'll never be the high scorer we need at the back of the lineup who is going 9.95 every week)

Dean: Beam! Love how Bridget has gotten better and better on this over the years

Campbell: Beam, but only if her body is able. I think she has just been so hampered by lingering injuries and back problems it is hard to get the consistency needed, especially to anchor. I would love it if she has a great season, but she can't have another season like last one and maintain the anchor spot.

I am excited to see the new freshmen and how Kai is looking. Mostly, I am really hoping for a (relatively) normal season for the girls, so the super seniors finally get one, and the juniors - who have never really had a normal year! I also want Haleigh to have a great year as well!

Anyone that goes to Gym 101, please share your thoughts on the event. It is disappointing that it will not be shown on SEC+ this year....just have to wonder why!

Just a thought... does anyone else think they aren't streaming the preview this year because of all the bashing they received after last year's streaming? It's been streamed and live every year they have done it.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think you might be right. But to be fair, we were not the only team to have bad covid protocols, in fact some teams were even worse than us but received no backlash whatsoever

I reached out to the LSU Gym office and this was the reply.

Thank you for reaching out. Gymnastics 101 will not be streamed.

I bet y’all are right… all the COVID cry babies after last year put a bad taste in ESPN’s mouth. Sad, other schools have hat have no idea of our protocols can dictate what we get to enjoy as LSU fans. End of the day, they hate us because they’re not us!!

I agree. I saw a thread on Twitter where people were saying how it’s a “missed opportunity” for exposure not to stream the 101. One person commented that Michigan steamed theirs on Facebook and UCLA and Utah are also live steaming theirs soon for everyone to see. While I would have liked to see Gym 101, I am not upset about it not being streamed. It’s not like it’s a real meet. We’ll see the girls next month. If people are that pressed for gymnastics, YouTube has plenty of older meets. I just think people find anything to complain about these days, especially if it involves LSU.

Yeah, let's just keep each other informed as much as possible on here. I'm sure social media will show a lot of the great and expected routines. I was definitely hoping to see some of the routines we haven't seen yet.

Fingers crossed someone records and posts a lot to youtube. We'll just have to all work together to post links to as many routines as we find. But I'm happy to do it for y'all!

For those of you attending 101 tonight, Jay mentioned in his interview posted to YouTube (LSU Tiger TV) that Dunne and Dean will both be out tonight (flu).

Other notes:

Kiya will be limited again this year because of her Achilles
Going to pace Aleah and Tori
KJ expected to do vault and floor
Bridget and Reagan will only do beam this year
Sami still training vault, bars, and beam
Christina still training beam and floor

Of course I am unable to post the link to the interview but I encourage you all to go watch it on YouTube.
