Wonder if Sami might transfer to help her mom jump start her tenure at UNC. Maybe even a few others who have limited roles at LSU would also leave for opportunities to have more expanded opportunities. With 20 gymnasts on the roster LSU will essentially have three team rotations available for each meet with only 24 spots competing.

I doubt it personally. She is way too close with the girls on the team and wants to win a national title. Transfers in gymnastics aren’t all that common either. Most of the scholarship kids who come in are well aware they won’t be competing AA or 3 events every week, due to how strong the team is. Every top 5 program has this issue.

The roster is large (only temporarily) but a big chunk of it 6 or 7 are walk ons. Kids like Ballard, Brock and Ryan are talented enough to get a scholarship other places although I doubt they would want to go anywhere.

It’s going to be a war for everyone to break lineups next year. There will be spots some won’t retain their position unfortunately but that’s the nature of the beast and with having expanded rosters with seniors returning

Adding on to this: the team is so closely tight knit that I don’t see any of the girls except maybe Courtney Goodrich (who was absent from the team this past season) transferring out to join the UNC team under Dana Durante as a head coach, even if it meant gaining a scholarship to compete at UNC

What events would you think are the most difficult and most sought after by programs seeking specialists to fill a spot or two in the lineup?

I watched some of it. She did have on an LSU t shirt, which she has done a few times now. She tried to hide the LSU logo with her pillow but we knew what it was. She kind of dodged all the college questions, but some of the comments were pro-Clemson and anti-LSU. Totally understandable because people literally hate LSU. Sad that the live kind of turned into a Skinner hate splat fest.

You guys in the know,,, Why do so many hate LSU in the gym World. If you don't wanna publicly post someone please PM me with what the deal really is with this. My wife and I have been season ticket holders for about 8 years and we continue to see these references and honestly have no understanding of this. We have also been to Nationals several times and never been treated anything but with respect to our colors.

Haha nice re-LSU clothing :)

Wow a Skinner hate fest that’s terrible...I hope Konnor didn’t participate in that. I know people have issues with her online but haven’t seen any of the athletes having issues with her.

As for people hating on LSU I don’t know entirely but I think it has something to do with the team generally being more conservative and the gymternet being more liberal. Plus people were pissed with how LSU handled COVID protocols in the beginning of last season. Why LSU gets more hate than say Oklahoma or other “conservative” schools I do not know.

No, Konnor was defending Skinner. The comments were just horrible. Think that’s why she cut it off early.

Part of the reason people’s hate LSU goes back 15 to 20 years ago. LSU fans use to be very hostile to visiting teams. I remember a time when a whole section of fans started yelling “fall” when the visiting team was on beam. If you watch past meets you can hear it and the commentators make reference to it. Other coaches also talk about how bad it was to compete at LSU. That is part of the reason.

It’s good to see Annie back training again since her surgery. Hope she has a strong year before heading to LSU

Her and Kiya are working hard on getting Morgan Price to LSU

She is and she isn’t the only one from what I’ve seen. No clue what the final composition will be but it gives me a lot of hope seeing they are training other options on beam. I think Kiya as well would benefit from it being water down, she already has a front toss in the routine, I don’t see a reason why she needs a more difficult leap series, especially when the switch half was a pain to do. Will be interested to see what they do with Aleah.

Episode 5 of Golden sheds some light on why Konnor left Revolution. Worth the watch.

Absolutely. I was wrong when I said her coach bowed out (though I still think she certainly was not equipped to coach an athlete of Konnor's caliber) - hopefully Konnor is happy at WOGA moving forward.

She is doing one now. Plans to go on visits in the fall (probably after Worlds if she gets selected).

Hopped off early but she said her top schools are LSU, Auburn, OSU, OU, maybe Georgia, maybe Clemson depending on coaches. It’s definitely a no for UF and UCLA! Wonder how she got so interested in OSU...

She use to go to camps at Ohio St before, living in WV she use to be pretty close. Not sure unless there is a family connection to the school.

An interesting take on USA Gymnastics since Rio with the changes going forward.
