The rich get richer. Although I’m looking forward to see what OU and UCLA look like now that their star gymnasts are gone. Ross and Nichols meant a lot for both programs, they won’t be able to just replace them.

Was she kicked off? Didn’t a huge chunk of the team transfer?

LSU has the opposit problem. The churn out super stars assembly line like: Courville, Bugs, Finnegan and now Johnson. If they could only develop consistency in the next level behind them, especially in the finals. No more falls or out of bounds from gymnasts who never did it all season until that unexpected hiccup causing the whole team to have to scramble to get back into contention.

We need for people not to be injured. That would be a pretty giant start. While I don't agree with everything the coaches do (mostly routine composition), this season was a struggle mostly due to all the injuries. Plus, you don't just replace Finnegan, priessman, Kelley and Cannamela. No matter how good the freshmen class is, it will take a little time for them to get up to that level. Kelley, priessman and Finnegan were not the gymnasts that they were until their sophomore/junior years. Freshmen take some Time to transition.

Agreed this season was an anomaly due tot eh injuries which plagued them until the last couple of meets. Even then the walking wounded were pressed into competition. Would have been interesting to see what they could have achieved in post season.

Good point that it takes time for superstardom to emerge, except for Kiya who showed that extra gear from day one. Do any of the commitments for the next couple of classes show that level of potential?

Kiya is not a norm for a true frosh but It wasn't totally unexpected, she completely dominated JO's for quite a few years before LSU. Everyone knew the high level of difficulty and execution she had would bring giant scores but the impressive thing was her consistency. She literally did not have major mistake outside of week one on beam due to DD putting unnecessary skills into a beam routine.

LSU has some big time kids coming in over the next few years. Honestly a few of them can all be major impacts but it comes down to being healthy. I think Haleigh Bryant is going to be a nice complement to kiya in the AA. I think Olivia Dunne could give LSU 2 or 3 great events. In 2021, Aleah Finnegan provided she is mostly healthy should have a similar impact. Tori Tatum could be a big spark early as well.

If you look at LSU's last 3 recruiting classes, they have all had major issues with the injury bug. Kai, Alyona and Ryan this year were limited. Ferrer came in banged up and really was only ready to do bars. Desiderio, Campbell, Dean and Durante came to LSU having been injured and out for a year prior to competing for LSU. I am hoping moving forward that the kids we have coming in can be mostly healthy. That changes things drastically as kids can work on improving their gymnastics instead of only focusing on getting healthy. When you spend more time trying to be healthy instead of polishing up your routines, it is very difficult to compete at the highest level.

To no one’s surprise, Haleigh Bryant topped College Gym News’ “Most Anticipated J.O. Freshmen on Vault” list.

Also, I’m very disturbed by Kennedy Baker’s comments on Twitter about how basically she was told to stay silent on racial matters at Florida. Kytra Hunter (one of my favorite gymnasts) made a comment to the likes of “thank you for speaking up for US”. This is NOT a good look for Florida.

Alabama and OU (deservedly) taking heat from the gymternet today. I appreciated the statement from D-D.

I personally thought the statement from DD was a lazy cop out post. She’s been head coach for 40+ years of the program and she’s now 67. She’s only lived in Louisiana her whole life and BR is a predominantly black area. If she hasn’t learned by now how to be more inclusive and an activist for people of color, she never will because she doesn’t want to and hasn’t wanted to. I’m sorry to say this but she’s too comfortable where she’s at and learning would mean changing the image and face of LSU gymnastics as a whole from what it’s always been

I don't know who you are but you are really not in a good place with the rest of the gym posters, including me.

You make an account to defender Ferrer (who no one was attacking). Tell everyone how she is going to dominate and be better than ever for LSU (after taking over a year off) before transferring. Then you attack posters for being interested in why she is transferring. Then you come out and say LSU doesn't have room to add Dickson because their are 21 seats on a plane. Now you are going after a generic statement from DD over this entire situation?

You are not an LSU fan, its clear you have something against LSU since it didn't workout for Bailey. Good luck at Auburn.

I couldn’t honestly care less what you think about me especially since, like you’ve stated, YOU DON’T KNOW ME. This is a public forum and last I checked I’m not the only one who has an issue with DD’s statement. Don’t believe me? Check Twitter. Not to mention I have a right to freedom of speech and can express myself in any way I choose to, same as everyone else on this thread. If you read my statements again, not once did I say anything negative about Rachel Dickson. I was simply stating facts about the LSU gymnastics program and the numbers we’re projected to have next year, even without Rachel, as well as the pattern of who does and doesn’t get to attend meets based on how this season was and the number of girls who were on the roster. Second of all, when I first was defending Bailey, I never once said she was coming back to LSU. I simply stated that when she comes back to competitive collegiate gymnastics, she’s going to be better than she was before, yet you somehow twisted my words into thinking she was coming back TO LSU when I never once said that and also her transfer process was still on the down low for a reason. Had I had permission from Bailey and her family to discuss it in details, I would’ve. I get that people were curious but you all were being nosy as shite and as a friend of the family, I have a justification for defending her. You don’t get to tell me who I’m a fan of and who I’m not a fan of. I still support the LSU team because I’m close with a number of the girls not just Bailey and happen to know quite a bit about the ins and outs of the team and the coaches and the reasons why Bailey is leaving but I’m not allowed to disclose them because it’s invasion of privacy for everyone involved with the program.

As for the travel limits, I found it on the official SEC site: Squad Size. A home team may dress all eligible student-athletes in uniform, but only 18 student-athletes may participate in a Conference contest. A visiting team is limited to a travel squad size of 18 eligible student-athletes.

LSUgymfann is a fraud. A classic bandwagon. Used to root for UCLA, then LSU, and now has switched to Auburn. I’m glad she made the switch. She was a part of a few giving LSU “fans” a bad rep. So long Elena J. Geaux enjoy Auburn now. Good riddance.
