I just wanted to update y'all letting y'all know Aleah Finnegan and Lilly Lippeatt are both at the national team camp in Sarasota Florida. Aleah will be able to attend the selection camp for the world championships later this month.

Olivia Dunne is almost 100% now after taking some time off to heal her body. She still trained regularly but did less pounding. She is very focused right now towards LSU. She is retired from elite.

Fall practice will be underway soon. LSU has 4 scholarship kids (Alyona, Kai, Kiya, Smith) with the addition of 3 walk ons (Nibbs, Goodrich, Ryan).

Kai and Kiya each are expected to contribute on 3 or 4 events immediately out the gates. Ryan will see time on vault immediately (top 4 finish on vault at nationals). Alyona could be on bars and beam before the middle of the season depending her progression from injury (which is going well right now).

For those who want to know about Nibbs, she trained at Stars gymnastics in Houston w/ Emma Kelley. She is a very powerful gymnast with upside on the power events.

Nibbs vault

Recruiting visits will pick up soon. Leanne Wong remains a big target.

I agree about Alexia Nibbs. Historically, Bob Moore has a great track record of developing explosive gymnasts on vault, just recently Edwards and McKenna. I can't wait to see what he can do with her.

Her dancing on floor is HUGE too! Almost reminds me of Kennedy Baker (this might also be because their hurdles are very similar.) Leaps are a little rough, looses some toes on several elements, but still, with the addition of an E pass (her full-in look pretty close) and a solid double salto pass she can be a legitimate 9.85 or higher for the future.

AMAZING walk-on get!

Looks like Sami is having some surgical procedure today. I hope it’s nothing serious or anything that keeps her out for any part of the season.

Has to be her ankle right? Seems like she had some issues toward the end of the season. Buetiful bar worker that was routinely under scored in my opinion.

Sami deserves to be moved toward the end of the lineup so she can get a bigger score for the team. We have several good freshman bar workers that could go first this year. LSU often sacrifices a good bar and beam workers in the start position. It was the case with Zarmarti and Savona on bars and Erin and Desiderio on beam. I suppose there is a rationale behind it but fans would like to see the girls get higher scores when deserved which is not always the case.

Ashlyn must not be on the team. I’ve seen several pics on Instagram, and she’s not in any of the “seniors” pics with Kennedi and Ruby. People have asked about Ashlyn in the comments, but so far, no answers.

Alyona Shchennikova, Caitlin Smith, Alexia Nibbs, Courtney Goodrich, Kiya Johnson, Kamryn Ryan, Kai Rivers

Kirby has had issues with recovery so this may be it for her. She was training this spring but haven't seen her training since then. Her body take a long time to heal. The roster still isn't finalized. Looks like it will just be Edney and Ruby as far as competing seniors.

They are hoping to have Alyona back before midseason on bars and beam. She is healing quite well so far. Btw I think Olivia Gunter is someone to keep an eye out on.

First official practice underway today

Freshmen looked really really good in the opening practice. Best freshmen class we have had since Finnegan/Priessman/Kelley/Cannamela. So much depth and talent. Expecting a big year from Reagan Campbell.

I'm with you Tigerbait. I think Campbell becomes the team leader and has an outstanding season.

I think Campbell does have an outstanding season but I actually think Desiderio becomes the team leader. I'm loving football season but I can't wait until January!!

THIS
She has been the most outspoken member of this class since they stepped on campus even though she was the youngest

Alyona was doing bar work today. If LSU could get her in on bars and beam, that could be big for us at the end of the year.

I don’t anticipate she will do power events until sophomore year. She has a nice vault we will eventually be able to use.

Christina and Campbell are also getting in on bars as well. We will have more options.

Small note from DD and Jay earlier on the radio show, they expect Kai and Kiya to fill the major scoring voids from the seniors while expecting a lot more out of the juniors. Goal is to get Desiderio on 3 events. They have approached fall a little differently this year with hopes of seeing better quality of gymnastics by time season comes. There will be some adjustments and experimenting with some of the routine constructions. Jay believes this team will be in the hunt for a title by the end of the year. Thinks people will be really surprised by what this group can accomplish.

Thought they had throttled back early last year which was a key to thefurious finish tothe season. Are they reverting to th eold process? Injuries did hurt their scores early last year, but also thought their aim was to peak for the finish.

It is, I may have worded that badly. They are making adjustments in hopes to see better development and execution across the board. Obviously Kai and Kiya are some of the most vital kids on the team as they both are going to be relied on heavily from the get go. They aren't going to rush kids and get them injured.

Btw Aleah is at the worlds selection camp. She isn't going to get selected but its a good experience and she can show those upgrades.
