I am ok with Ferrer on bars but she will probably never be above a 9.85 or so. Her release seems to kind of just drop and not really go up like the others. Her feet are a major problem and I am not sure if that can be fixed. If they could fix that she goes to a 9.9 I do love that she seems consistent with sticking her dismount.

Ferrer's issue are her feet and that minor leg separation during her pirouette at the top of the routine before her release. Her release itself is actually fine, she just loses the toe point during the release.

She hits handstands, has a nice bail to handstand to the low bar. Her double layout is actually really nice. If they can clean up the feet she will move to high 9.8's or low 9.9's and that is perfectly fine with what we have in the rest of the lineup.

Kirby looked really good in training this fall on bars so I'm not going to count her out yet as well. Jay thought she was one of the most improved kids on bars. The two freshmen will definitely be in that lineup. I am really praying Caitlin Smith gets it together, as she really could potentially help LSU a lot on bars but again she hasn't been in the gym much.

LSU has to make landings a bigger priority this offseason, specifically on vault. Sticking landings has been a big problem ever since Gnat graduated. LSU doesn't absorb the landings enough.

Last fall it seemed Rebecca D'Antonio was making an impression. There was obviously much experience ahead of her so she was not going to compete this season. What are the possibilities she may earn a spot in the rotation next season. How has she progressed over the year in the program?

Big news today out of Arkansas. I’m pretty surprised jordyn went straight from volunteer to head coach. There are also rumors that Jay was considering the position but turned it down to stay at LSU.

Jay Clark turned down the job!

Arkansas made a run at him but Jay is happy here. He got a nice raise and it set to take over the program eventually. LSU has 3 monster classes lined up in front as well.

LSU fans can all take a deep breath. Unless Alabama cans duckworth then makes a run at Jay lol

As an Arkansan of 33 years (but an LSU Tiger at heart), I do not blame Jay for turning down Arkansas. Barnhill Arena is not the best place to have a gymnastics meet. It’s very small and compact. Arkansas doesn’t have the best facilities, and football will always be the main sport in the state. Plus the fan base will turn on you in a heartbeat! And gymnastics is not big at all in Arkansas. I feel Jordyn will struggle as a coach tremendously. Arkansas does have a few athletes with potential (Hambrick, Carter, Elswick, & Schaffer), but they need a lot of work. This is not an overnight fix.

Yeah I read that somewhere earlier. That would be great! Jay works so hard and he’s a big reason for LSU’s success.

357, any insight as to why Jay was unsuccessful at Georgia?

Was he an assistant there prior, and if not, what was his background?

Never believed she was truly ever intending to come back but best of luck to her.

Ferrer will have to step up this offseason

I saw something on Instagram about an interview for Inside Edition. Anybody know when that show comes on?

Definitely happening and I hear something about a $50k raise. It’s the reason he didn’t take the Arkansas job.

Utah will be without Skinner next year

Looks like Trinity is still trying to go for the olympics as well. If she has a good summer, I doubt she will be in the NCAA next season for Florida. Both those losses changes the complexion of NCAA next year.

Provided the returning gymnasts make big strides as juniors, Ferrer becomes more experienced and posied and Kennedi and Ruby become the leaders this years seniors were should we expect another LSU vs OU battle for the title?

MyKayla and Trinity can still do both. I’m hopeful they do. The Olympics is during the summer and NCAA gymnastics is from December/January-April. And don’t forget that Shallon Olsen (Alabama) is still elite and mentioned a while back she’s going for the Olympics. I can’t blame her because she did so well at Worlds (silver medalist on vault). I think out of these 3 MyKayla is probably the one who may be done with college gymnastics. She hasn’t been happy with the way she’s been scored all year. But I hope they all stick with college.
