LSU Gymnastics picks up commitment from Top Level 10 Gymnast!!!!!

LSU today picked up a commitment from Kiya Johnson from Texas Dreams
Kiya is a top level 10 gymnast and won the JO National title in the all around this season, she decommited from Georgia and committed to LSU
Big time recruit!
She is a 2020 kid but word is we are bringing her/another 2020 kid apart of this upcoming 2019 class!!

So happy to see this! She is excellent! I think she also won the bars title at the Nastia Cup this year. That 2020 class has to be the the #1 class.
Do you know what vault she competes? I think I’ve seen a double, right?

It was already considered a top class before her but adding Kiya makes it a no doubter now

This state doesn't really have any top gymnasts... best I know of is Sierra Ballard who is a 2020 kid out of Mandeville. She wants to go to LSU but I don't see any money available for her, all of the money is already toward big time gymnasts out of state at the moment. If she comes to LSU she will likely be a walk on but there is TOPS so that should help
The best kids in the country are out of bigger gyms such as Texas Dreams, Paramount Elite, Parkettes, WOGA, MG elite, Everest, Precision and of course GAGE
These gyms are are pumping out top level 10 kids and elite gymnasts like crazy every year

What are these gyms able to provide that smaller gyms cannot do? Is it just better coaching or equipment?
Just curious since the same disparity does not appy in football and basketball when comparing small schools to large schools.

Combination of both. I know small no name gyms who have great coaching but the facilities are limited and it hampers training and development.

She is very talented and offers a lot on beam and floor. I am interested to see how she continues to develop over the next year and see how that 1 1/2 continues to improve.
