quote:Well, I would say damn the burning bridges part at this juncture because they've already gotten burned playing this game in this past class with Surtain, and not offering other CB's when they should have to have a backup. I think they've learned from that to offer all now and not worry about shite like burning bridges, but according to this old article I read they should have been offered Kimbrough imo and I don't know what the hell they're waiting on. He has offers from Alabama and Georgia now, are you trying to lose more top DB's to these 2 again?? He's a really good CB according to this article with only Stingley being better.
No to hijack this thread, but given the critical need at CB, why haven't we offered Kimbrough?
I'd say for the exact same reason GeauxLSU4 said, which was:quote:
Out of state programs can do this without any backlash. LSU has to be selective in who they offer to avoid burning any bridges. Plus, we are after several top rated guys at his position across the state and country. I'll be very surprised if Stingley doesn't end up at BR.
But the funny thing to me is Kansas again continues to be a thorn in the side, he's already committed to them. Lol LINK

Well whomever we get, they'll likely start day one. Hopefully he decides to come here.

Not surprising. Easton is Tony Hull’s old school so I’m sure they have a good relationship. I don’t know this for sure, but I’m willing to bet we haven’t offered for the following reasons:
Kimbrough is the 3rd rated in state corner on the board behind Stingley and Bush. They already have a commitment from Hampton and must feel pretty good about the two in state guys. There is also some other OOS guys who are interested in coming here because of the slim depth chart. I would imagine Kimbrough will get an offer eventually because he’ll earn one at a camp and we need to be sure CB is addressed if we miss on those first three guys.

do you really believe that? According to 247 Lance Legendre also has an offer from Alabama. They have probably been offered to go to a Bama camp or something and for some reason 247 is reporting it as a bama offer.

that's the problem especially with the early signing period. Recruits don't want to be told that if everything else falls through then we want you as a backup plan.

All that means is he's not close to reaching his physical potential yet, he could be up there with Faneca Whitworth Collins etc

quote:It's right there in the link I posted, the second article down. Well, 3rd article down now because it's been updated and replaced by the Shareef O'Neal article. Lol And your second comment is exactly what I'm talking about, you must have def misunderstood my whole comment. I am saying you offer these kids that you are putting on hold because you are after the bigger fish. Screw burning the bridge with the big fish recruit, they either want to commit or not. Offer both and cover all the bases.
do you really believe that?

I agree on that tubucoco
That's one strategy adjustment I'm for to be used with early signing period.
Schools don't have much leverage. You have to use what you got.
Using this last year as an example as an option we have: Ok Surtain, first signing period is gone. You haven't signed or committed. It's a spot for a good CB, we're telling Cook and Goodrich whomever commits first gets it.
So while you don't leave it open to everybody, you do leave it open to a short list of good players. When you're talking comparisons between Cook, Surtain, and Goodrich they are close enough where no one's crystal ball is good enough to say one WILL be better than the other.
No you don't allow your class to fill up too early, but you don't leave yourself open. At the same time you play the game, but you play the game against the whims of a 17yr old.

quote:
“LSU is my leader,” Stingley said on Sunday. “Everyone else still has a shot, though. If those schools keep working like they have, then we’ll see how things turn out, but right now, LSU leads.”
“It’s just the relationships,” he added. “We have built a relationship since my 9th grade year. That’s a long time, and I’m close with them. Some schools are just jumping on board. They have a long ways to go.”
quote:
“The most anything can do is just keep building relationships. Relationships are key with me. If I can’t feel like I’m going to a place that feels like home, then I’m not going to like it,” Stingley detailed.

He's also now the top CB on Rivals and 7 overall.

I pray we get this kid. But it really is sad that you need to beg a home town kid to come play for his home state.we need more kids like kardel

Would be great if he shut things down early. We need so many elite CB's this class.
