I’d love a rim protector bust also a taller guy that can knock down the 3 and open up the paint.

The SEC doesn’t really have those guys. Casleton at UF and Tumlin at Missouri were probably the closest. You build your team to compete in the conference first and work your way out from there. LSU doesn’t really need a stiff in the post. It’s not how Wade wants to play.

It wasn't verbatim but I was using Wade's words from his interview saying they badly missed a body they could throw at players like Dickenson and that's something he wants to address via the transfer portal. Like the poster of above me said, probably just means someone with some height that you can't just have a field day shooting over the top of.

Added Pinson. As of now LSU is full at 13 scholarships, if CWW adds anyone then expect a transfer out from someone currently on roster.

Well, he did/does have a 6'11", 255lb Center on his roster (Josh Gray) that he recruited, presumably, for a reason. I'm not saying Gray is as skilled as Dickson, or other big centers of his ilk, but he could presumably provide some resistance on defense if that was a major concern of Wade's. Otherwise, why recruit the guy?

I think what he is really trying to say is "I want a guy who can block shots on his own so we won't be gutted quite so bad when the other 4 guys on the court are running around aimlessly selling out for steals rather than actually defending anyone".

All things considered LSU didn't do that bad of a job guarding Dickson only 12 points in 31 minutes and 1 offensive rebound. It's the fact they didn't guard anyone else that was the problem. Everyone is obsessed with Wade getting a shot blocker when the real problem on defense is that they are terrible guarding outside the lane

I listened to Wade's recent radio interview with Culotta.

He reiterated that last year's set half court defense wasn't that bad generally. It ended up being poor because of the bad defensive rebounding allowing too many second chance opportunities and points. (He did not comment on the sometimes poor transition defense.)

He did say that having a bigger paint presence could have helped last year to help clean up the defensive boards thus improving the defense. He also mentioned that having a bigger paint presence could have allowed less doubling the post (eg Dickinson in the Michigan game). This could have aided the defensive spacing with less doubling the post and better coverage elsewhere. Also, having a bigger shot blocker may make 2 foot layups on dribble penetration to become 6 foot floaters (more difficult shots).

Wade suggested that he may be looking for an experienced transfer in several roles. One would be scoring in the guard and wing positions and a F/C to control the paint better. He could not talk about Pinson, but my take is that Pinson fills the role of experience and scoring at the guard position.

People really think we're not going to compete? I see a team full of solid players who should benefit from what's going to be a down year in the SEC.

Just about every player you listed there is either a complete unknown at this point or has to make TREMENDOUS improvements to fill the roles you have them slotted in for Lsu to have a good team next year.

Both these guys wont be starting. Neither shoots 3s. Both essentially play the 5 spot in Wade's setup. They can surely play together at times, but they wont be 25-30 minute a game guys together.

I'd put Fudge ahead of one or the other, more versatile player.

We only recruited Gray because we missed on Cisse and Anselem was pissing around. He was a plan C who was never going to get minutes last year. He looked goofy as hell running around too. He’s gonna have to improve coordination before getting legit minutes

So you don't like Pinson, but think this guy is a take, when he shoots about the same percentage as Pinson but turns the ball over way more ??

He shoots 5% higher and has a better assist/TO ratio. I’m guessing some people only look at ppg...

I’ve been saying for at least 2 years, not stopping dribble penetration causes 90% of our defensive breakdowns (rebounding is the other 10%). In the post season, we played with more intensity and did a much better job stopping the ball.

I didn't expect Hyatt to be the odd man out. I thought Hyatt started to show some promise towards the end of the season. We are back to a full roster if Days stays. If Days leaves for the draft we would have one spot to fill.

1. Mwani Wilkinson - F
2. Jalen Cook - G
3. Josh Leblanc - F
4. Alex Fudge - F
5. Eric Gaines - G
6. Shareef O'neal - F
7. Josh Gray - C
8. Jerrell Colbert - C
9. Bradley Ezewiro - C
10. Brandon Murray - G
11. Seneca Knight - G
12. Xavier Pinson - G
13. Darius Days - F

I'm thinking Days is out and one of the centers will be out, leaving us two spots to fill.
