We need to start working on the Jay statue now. I'm thinking about 10 feet tall and walking a tiger on a chain.

We obviously built a statue of jim next to the rail by the Skip statute with his hands on his knees staring down at his binder.

Talented pitcher for sure but he doesn’t really pitch much. Hes got a monster arm but was like the #4-5 pitcher on his school team this spring. The bat is where his polish really shows up. He can swing it
I won’t be surprised if he ends up as an arm but I think he’s a bat when it’s all said and done Jake Brown style

quote:then how the hell is he #1 pitcher in Texas. #7 LHP overall? Was this some type of super team with the rotation they had last year in High School? Like Brady Ebel corona team last year that like 4 top 20 picks

He goes to Aledo and they won the state title in 5A. They didn’t need him to pitch to win it. They had other guys who were very good although none of them anywhere near his natural talent. I’m fairly certain he didn’t pitch at all during district or playoffs but was back on the mound for the summer

His stuff is way better than Browns but I’ve seen him hit, too, and he certainly has some juice.
I think it’s more of a casan Evans situation where his raw stuff on the mound is just too enticing

I don’t disagree with that at all, I’m just making my bold(ish) prediction. He has made two starts against us in the past two years and both games we couldn’t do anything and I had a lineup full of guys who could thump it. He’s an impressive kid. Glad he’s heading to BR.

3200 rpm slider pretty much forces an experiment as a pitcher. Most of these great HS pitchers are also great hitters, tho I’m sure you know that if you’re coaching

25 draft was definitely a high school class
It helps when the college prospects push the high schoolers down a little
Covid also played a role otherwise Skenes and crews type players never would have made it to campus

COVID did not play a role in Skenes getting to fricking Air Force.

6'6" LHP, ranked by Baseball America as the number 22 player in the 2027 class.
After this commitment, and one by Leo Nockley to Tennessee, it gives the trio of LSU Texas and Tennessee 25 top 100 players in the 2027 class.

Is there any separation between LSU, Tennessee and Texas’ 27 classes?

Tennessee and LSU ahead of Texas. But Texas is way out in front of whoever would be next.

He reminds me of a young Andrew Miller
