Not sure how I forgot about him. I thought he was a possible commit a couple weeks ago.

Looks like he has two-way potential if he makes it to school

it’s so hard to do both that even guys Jay wants to be 2way players end up wanting to specialize.

Jay really liked Evans as a SS

Look how that turned out! Florida had a good two-way player years ago, I think his name was Matthews, who played OF or 1st base.

great interview with Chris Martin, the Baseball S&C

LSU is paying him a good bit, but he is one of, if not the top S&C coaches in College baseball(TCU & Cincy amongst others have great ones too)

We are very very lucky to have Chris. The players love him and the changes he made has made a huge difference. The kids are buying in and we are lifting heavy again but he listens to the data too and makes changes as needed attacking the weaknesses.

the ability to test, attack the individual weakness of each player through program changes and retest and make changes may sound simple but its actually very rare in team sport S&C.

I can not say enough good things about Chris. Great guy and a great S&C coach.

the game has advanced so much that its very very hard to be elite at both. Can be very very good but elite is crazy hard. Its why people should appreciate what Ohtani is doing more.

Evans, Guidry, Skenes are perfect examples. Both Evans and Skenes gained 4-6mph when they stopped hitting.

You only have so much ability to recover.

I do think with roster changes and modes of recovery and the advances there will allow more 2 way players in the future though for sure.

I mean Caglianone was a two way guy two years ago lol.

Brendan McKay (who pitched the final 5 innings and hit a walk off HR against my team in extras in the semis in Cooperstown 17 years ago) probably did the two way thing the best in the last decade or so.

Skenes, obviously. FSU would bring their center fielder into close when they were in our super in 2019. Was an average hitter but threw very well that year.

Also, can't forget Will Helmers. One of the best 3rd basemen in LSU history.

It's about time we get one of those super sized (6'5") CFs that can fly.
