The Vitello/San Fran interest is real on both sides. He's interviewing there and has a previously established relationship with Buster Posey.
I have mixed feelings about this. I understand they are different people and Tennessee taking a hit is good for us.
But the idea of Tony going to the MLB and succeeding and kicking off a trend scares me because you know Jay is at the top of that list

I don't think Vitello is too happy that revenue share and NIL changes has taken $ out of his pot to pay players
Jay is aware of this also
Baseball coaches at the power programs are definitely not happy about revenue share affecting their programs along with roster sizes shrinking
These next few years are gonna be interesting for sure
I still don't think you see any movement with Vitello and Johnson though as they both are in line to make over $3 million a year over the next 5-7 years which is a lot of money to walk away from to go to the pressure cooker of MLB

No more 50 man rosters at Tennessee where they have like a dozen redshirting or more
Edit- FIFTY-THREE on the roster last year

that's where the scholarship increase comes into play
Tenn is not gonna be able to fund 53 roster spots

My prediction for one of them is Samir Mohammed, 2027 pitcher.

damn seems like we taking a big 2027 HS class. I know some will go in the draft but seems very big. What are the numbers looking like? I know im being lazy, sorry
I think that makes 13 for 27 HS class?
how many are we expecting to lose? How many can we do the designated student athlete tag on?
I dunno just seems bigger than other classes and its coming at a time with reduced roster spots and more transfers.

Roster numbers for the 2028 season currently sit at 55 players, with two drafts and two offseasons to sort it out.
Part of that number is 11 guys listed as seniors for that year that could conceivably be reduced to 1 or 2 by the time that season rolls around due to the drafts. Then you factor in the draft losses in the 2026 class and we're right on pace.
I don't think we're done adding for 2027 by any stretch. I don't think we're done for 2026 from the HS and JUCO ranks, let alone the portal.

Non-recruiting related, but as I read about other teams and look at rosters, I really like what Arizona State and Auburn did this offseason. Arizona State mostly with the portal, Auburn with the portal and their freshman class.
UCLA probably will and should be preseason #1. They added some really good freshmen and some power arms.
LSU, Texas, and Tennessee are going to be Omaha contenders for the foreseeable future.
But I like Auburn and Arizona State for next year too.

Looks like 3 now.
Another emoji just went out.
Maybe Jacob Seamon? Maybe a JUCO kid is one of them?
