They start a lot later normally. I don’t know if this late is COVID induced though.

For anyone who knows, is Brennan Holt a legit 5’10 or is he going to look like will safford out there?

Mike Fontenot is 5'8, but hit bombs very easily, not trying derail the intended recruiting focus.

Because the 5’5 2nd baseman we started yesterday looked out of place. Holt’s listed at 155 pounds. I’m curious if he’s strong enough to turn a 90+ mph ball around.

Holt is closer to 5'5" than he is to 5'10". Built very similarly to Safford. Safford probably a little thicker actually. Holt is a good player. As I said, he's extremely fast...time will tell if he can hit SEC pitching. Don't be fooled by his senior stats...Parkview Baptist played a bunch of candy asses during the season, the whole line up hit .400 for the year.

Pearson is on fire to start summer league. I have a feeling he will push for playing time.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned before, but Kudnra is up to 97 on his fastball. Just saw a mock with him going in the 30’s. Hopefully he’s the only one we lose.

NEW ORLEANS – Delgado Baseball’s Brayden Jobert has been named an NJCAA Division I Second Team All-America selection for his performance on the field during the 2021 season. Jobert, a COVID freshman who transferred to Delgado following his pandemic-interrupted freshman season at Nicholls State, helped lead the Dolphins to a Region XXIII Division I Championship and an appearance in the South Central District championship. Jobert batted .394 in 47 games with 16 homeruns (28th in the nation), 65 hits, and 71 RBIs. Defensively, he carried a .989 fielding percentage with 252 putouts. He was also named to the 2021 All-Region XXIII team and named an NJCAA national Player of the Week this past March. Jobert was a freshman All-American selection last season at Nicholls and will transfer to Louisiana State University this fall to be a member of the Tigers’ program.

I will do some summer ball updates in this post. I don't have them all ready, so I will just keep updating here.

Josh Pearson - (Florida League, Sanford) - 5 games. .333/.429/.778 2 2B, 2 HR, 1 BB, 7 SO

Brennan Holt - (Florida League, Sanford) - 8 AB over 3 starts. 1 hit, 2 BB, 3 SO, 2 runs scored as pinch runner.

Brayden Jobert - (Appy League, Bluefield) - 6 games. .231/.333/.231 3 BB, 3 SO. 3 errors playing 3rd base. Has since switched over to 1B. May still get time at 3rd.

Likely due to injury, Mitchell Sanford is no longer expected to play for Charlottesville in the Valley League.

He scored at least another 3 runs last night as well. Seems to be really showing out so far.

I was looking up some prospects on Twitter and noticed Carter Jensen was at alex box about a month ago. It will obviously come down to what teams are willing to offer, but definitely not a bad sign that both catchers seem genuinely interested in attending school. That would make things really interesting with Milazzo and Travinski still having eligibility.

Hopefully one of the catchers can come in and take over the DH right away.

We will be fine at DH. We need a catcher who the next coach won’t bunt with 1 out and a runner on first.

Maybe a catcher who can hit around 280 or 300 and has some power.
