Which 2019 commits are not in summer league? Have not seen Wilhite's name but maybe I missed it.

Wilhite isn't in a collegiate summer league, but I saw he threw in the WWBL tournament or something the other day. He was mentioned in the scout notes on Perfect Game.

Sanford, Travinski, Doughty, Toups are the only ones who have played so far, IIRC. Kaminer is listed on a roster but hasn't thrown yet.

Usually none of the pitchers are sent to summer league before their freshman year. Cranford is recovering from TJ, Torres has fallen off the face of the earth. Milazzo and Biggs are the only other ones. I guess it's possible that the staff wanted Milazzo close to work with Dunn and some of the pitchers over the summer, to the extent that he would be allowed to.

Doughty has been beyond impressive thus far, hitting the ball to all sides of the field.

All social media still shows LSU, on his and his dad’s. Kind of weird that he isn’t mentioned anywhere, especially since he wasn’t drafted.

Adam have you heard anything about the two new lefties we're looking at for the 2020 class? One is a high school currently committed to a school that fired their coach. One is a guy that was high performer in D2 this past season but will be at JUCO in the fall.

Same thing last year with Cabell, but he got drafted so people asked about him specifically and CPM said he’s not a signee

Thomas Wilhite will not be coming to LSU. He's going to JUCO instead. My own speculation is that he wants to start his pro career as soon as possible and this route allows for that. Good luck to him.

ETA: I just saw it on Twitter

Wilhite isn't a lefty.

On an unrelated note, would you expect Connor Phillips to get a midweek start or two or is he a definite reliever profile? He seems Peterson-Hess-ish based on scouting reports.

Nope it's been extremely quiet on that front.

Well trying to find a positive - if Torres and Wilhite are both out then we are that much closer to the 35 roster limit.

That would also make it easier to create roster space for another infielder and lefty if we find them.

Any news on Jack Merrifield? I heard over the weekend from his HS coach that Vandy is interested

I'm sure they will work him into that role at some point. But I'm staying away from expectations on him until he steps on campus.

Vanderbilt doesn't recruit JUCOs.

I'm keeping Torres on my list until something more official comes out. But after taking off all the expected draft signings from the roster and the class, plus the transfers, I think we're at 36/35.

Didn't think they did. Besides that, are you hearing about any interest on LSU's part?

If you look at Worsham's piece on the outfield, he doesn't mention anything about Toups or Sanford either.

I wouldn't read a whole lot into the Torres stuff just yet. Might just be an oversight on the coach's part.

2020 commit Brody Drost was recently named 2nd team All American by Collegiate Baseball:

Drost, a junior infielder and pitcher, was dominant on the mound with an 8-0 record, alongside a 0.98 ERA. At the plate he hit .364 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs. Drost is committed to play for Paul Mainieri at LSU.
