There have been some guys from Lake Charles that have gone to Rice or Texas. JT Chargois, Josh Prince.
There have been some guys that were committed out of state but signed pro, like one of the Cecchinis, Chase Vallot. Basiel Williams that currently committed (maybe signed) with Mississippi State is like #3 in the state behind Marceaux and Willis.

Denham Springs just competed in a tournament in Georgia that was put on by Perfect Game. A ton of talent at the event.
Here is the write up on Cade Doughty: LINK
Here is the write up on Cade Doughty: LINK
quote:
One of the top prospects for the junior class, Cade Doughty (2019, Denham Springs, La.) has put on a loud performance all weekend, showing out in all facets of the game while also being seen as a potent offensive threat. The Louisiana State commit has a very strong collection of overall tools including his ability to impact the ball with tons of strength.
Doughty is hitting a scorching .571 through three game on the weekend which included his first hit against Houston County in the semifinals, a loud home run to the pull side that left the bat at 93 mph and traveled an estimated 357 feet. Doughty starts from a very wide base in the box, which can make it difficult at times to get his lower half involved consistently. However, when the timing is right, the ball flies off the barrel and the compact stroke travels through the zone with lots of bat speed; the strength does play to all fields too. The offensive approach overall is pretty polished, he won’t chase many pitches and knows which ones to hunt.
The Denham Springs shortstop turned in run times in the 4.3 range pretty consistently and has the requisite athleticism and speed to stick at shortstop. The physicality of the build may cloud the future at short, however he showed soft hands and fluid actions while absolutely having the arm strength to play the position. That arm strength showed its form when he took the mound to pitch. Doughty throws with intent as a high impact reliever, and can run his fastball up to 91 mph as he did to toss four shutout innings in the playoffs.
Doughty’s talent is extremely high and well-known, after his home run he received a couple of intentional passes out of fear he would do so again, and the ceiling is pretty limitless for the Louisiana product.

think we flip Basiel, or is he likely MLB bound anyway?
Posted on 3/13/18 at 12:10 pm to tigerbait2010
I don't think we flip him. I think he's signed. But he's definitely a draft risk, and probably more of one now that the guy that recruited him to MSU won't be the guy coaching him.

yeah, if he doesn't try to get out of his LOI after Andy was canned it should be pretty obvious he's MLB bound

New 2019 commit Daniel Espino had a good showing at the PG Acedemy Showdown. It's a tournament for kids that don't play at traditional high schools, they go to academies more or less set up for baseball training. Similar to IMG, where LSU has 3 commits, or TNXL, where Elijah Cabell goes. Here is the write up LINK:
On his way to earning the Most Valuable Pitcher of the tournament, Daniel Espino (2019, Statesboro, Ga.) turned in an outstanding six inning start and showcased some of the best velocity in the entire 2019 class. Sitting 94-96 early on with his fastball and not releasing a fastball below 89 mph throughout his six innings, Espino’s start was impressive in every way. The command of his fastball was outstanding and the velocity was completely overpowering. Swings and misses were a common trend as Espino piled on 12 strikeouts on the day.
His arm action is quite long and wrapped through the back, but the arm continually gets through the circle on time and out in front. The recent verbal commitment to LSU gets outstanding extension out in front as well. His 6-foot-3 200-pound frame and excellent extension help generate a 98 mph best effective velocity per TrackMan. Espino gets up to eight feet of extension reaching way out in front at release getting some occasional run to his explosive fastball. The LSU commit dominated the entirety of his start and showed why he is a top of the line pitcher in the class of 2019.
ETA: There may be video in the link, work filters preclude me from see that. If you search "Daniel Espino Baseball LSU" there will be a youtube video from the event. Espino is pictured at the top of the link.

LSU picked up a commitment from 2020 RHP Blake Money out of Spring Hill, TN. He's 6'6" 232. Throws in the upper 80s, touches 90.

Good thing is Blake Money may forego the money to come to LSU if he's only topping out at 90
Still a long way to go, if that velocity gets up to 95

Ripoll's velocity and location were keys to his incredible pitching performance throughout the night. He struck out 12 of the 15 batters he faced and all three balls that were put in play were harmless grounders to first, second and back to Ripoll on the mound.

Wild’s heroics also secured a win for Wildcats ace pitcher Landon Marceaux, who gave a stellar effort in hostile territory. With a slew of scouts aiming their radar guns in his direction, the LSU-signee allowed six hits, walked one and struck out 12. One batter was intentionally walked and two reached on dropped third strikes.

What kind shot does Marceaux have to make it to LSU?

He was seriously contemplating enrolling early and being on this years team. So we have a very good chance. It's not nearly a guarantee we get him though, he's good enough to get drafted in the top 5 rounds. And getting drafted in the top 10 rounds is almost (like 95+%) a guarantee that the player will sign with the pros.
He will drop if his bonus number is high enough.

He has to find a team that wants to draft him first. Scouts have not been impressed this spring.

I wonder if they add any outfielders to this class? Losing 3 this year and even tho we have 3 signed, I doubt cabell makes it to campus.
What’s the story on Lee? If that link with his high school stats is legit, he couldn’t make LSUA’s roster much less LSU

I don't know what's up with Lee. He's highly rated by several different sites, but his stats leave me wondering why.
There is some speculation that Dugas will transition to the OF. It's possible they add someone to the class. I haven't seen anyone that looks like a candidate from the HS ranks. There are always JUCO guys that can pop up late. Especially with LSUE and Delgado having such strong programs.

I looked at his PG account after I posted that and noticed noticed he had a 9.5 rating which is really good. I guess we won’t know what to expect from him until he gets here. From the few things I’ve seen on Dugas he seems like he will be pretty good. One of those guys underrated because of his size

I'm sure LSU has some fall back guys if they need someone to fill out a class, Broussard didn't get offer until LSU lost an IF in the draft last summer.
Wonder if LSU is recruiting the fr from Uhigh - Slaydon - really good prospect.
