Incoming Freshman Hal Hughes won defensive player of the year in the collegiate summer league in which he was competing. His bat started to come around towards the end of the season. His last NECBL league game is tonight. His team will not be in the playoffs.

It sounds like the 2018 MLB draft will move up a week and start on June 4th. That would put it Monday after (or potentially during) regional play.

Does the change in date affect Watson and Hess draft status. Will they both be 21 45 days before June 4? I think Josh Smith will be 21 in August of next year so we should have him for 3 seasons

That was my first thought when I saw the announcement.
Watson is the closest to the cutoff, but his birthday is in June, so he'll still be eligible. Hess and Slaughter were also unaffected.

LSU picked up an in state commitment from Monroe recently. 2018 RHP Jake Hammond from Ouachita HS is now committed to LSU.

He was at one point. He mentioned in his tweet that he had re-opened his recruitment earlier in the summer.
This is the third commit that I can think of in the 2018 class that was previously committed elsewhere (Willis and McMurray being the others).

Yes. He is in the upcoming recruting class, which is getting pretty big.
There is a ton of draft risk at the top of the class. I think now they're trying to get the numbers up with high level people to play the odds with the draft. Everyone won't sign. I don't think Beloso is a huge draft risk at this point. But that kind of info doesn't normally come out until around April.
Some guys are already on the radar big time though like Turang, Cabell, Willis, Jaden Hill, Levi Kelly, and Landon Marceaux.
We'll probably oversign by a ton because of how many high profile guys we're recruiting.

Honestly don't know a lot about him. I know he's my cousin's kid. Haven't seen them since before Katrina. They lived in lower St. Bernard and got flooded out. I guess i'll have to invite them to tailgate.

Yesterday, 2018 RHP commit Landon Marceaux pitched for the 18U Team USA club against Iowa Western Community College. Marceaux came away with a no-decision in his teams win after surrendering one run on 2 hits over 5 innings.
In the start, Marceaux struck out seven Reivers without walking a single batter.
Brice Turang started at Shortstop for Team USA. He was 1-3 with a run scored.

Yesterday LSU picked up a commitment from LHP Jacob Hasty out of Keller, TX. The 2019 grad plays at Fort Worth Christian and the 5th pitcher (first LHP) in the 2019 class for the Tigers. A link to his PG profile is in the second post in this thread.
