Raymond played under Tellini when he was at LSU as DC.

It looks like he recruited mostly the Miami area in Florida for Nebraska.

That is why we have Henry and Mcgaughey.

What'd he say?
Raymond seems like an up and comer.
He may be shorter on experience, but I can deal with that.
Don't forget, he took a job with Indiana under Kevin Wilson, to be DBs coach under Mallory as co-DC and then bailed on it for Nebraska. Seems like a dude interested in moving up the ladder at all costs

Tristan Cooper's spot is probably opening, unless the rest of the family stays here while Ron is in Tampa.

Raymond helped out coaching a LOT while he was here. He worked with the DB's & while I know some folks think its blasphemous to say Cooper wasn't great, I'm going to say that while yes, he was great, that Raymond really expanded our ability to coach those players while he was here in a S&C capacity.

There isn't much history with Raymond. I do think he will fit in well with the staff when it comes to recruiting.
The NOLA.com Deion Jones commits to Nebraska article makes him out to be a guy recruiters and parents will trust.
Sounds like Jones and his parents were sold on CR before they were sold on Nebraska. This was a well thought out decision for the Jones family, who seem like really good people.
Les is supposed to be great with parents. It sounds like Raymond will be too.
The Nebraska recruiting sites usually showed he and former LSU defensive intern and current Nebraska defensive coordinator, John Papuchis were recruiting all over the country. I can remember Raymond showing as the lead recruiter on kids from Florida to California.
Raymond's Nebraska bio tells about some of the DB's he coached.

quote:
"I chose Nebraska because they're a defensively-minded school and they recruited me as a linebacker,'' Jones said. "I developed a real good relationship with Coach Raymond. I felt comfortable talking with him. He was real with me. He gave me good advice. Then I started looking up (information about) Nebraska to learn more about them.
"I had been waiting for LSU and Alabama to see if they were going to offer. But that made me look at other schools. That got me to asking my parents about how they would feel about me going away to school. That got them talking to Coach Raymond and then they became comfortable and felt good about (Nebraska).''
The clincher, Jones said, was when "Coach Raymond assured my dad that they would take care of me and make sure that I go to class, and that he'll take care of me like I'm one of his own. My parents liked what he said.''

know most of those here are regulars who have broad base knowledge of recruiting. just please remember that there are us newbies who mostly lurk trying to learn the inner workings of recruitment from the board. i got hooked earlier in the year reading the five star gunner and landon dramas. This is complicated to figure out and learn for me and other newbies. seem that there is fact, fiction, and luck and not sure how much each figures into the recruiting picture.

We are talking about making an impression on 15, 16 & 17 year-old's. The kids are committing earlier every year. Who knows what's important/relevant to them?
It changes from year to year. Until this past class, it seemed like being on a team that plays for championships, can get you to the pros and is made up of most of the best kids from your home state was enough to get the ones LSU wanted.
Who knows what the 2013, 2014 & 2015 kids are wanting.
