"When I was your age, like you, I could have gone anywhere in the country to play college ball. But I chose to stay home, I chose to represent the state, I chose to put on that yellow helmet when a lot of guys were leaving the state and it was the best decision I every made."

He stayed to be close to his newborn child at the time. It was widely reported.

It is still the best decision he ever made.

Even if this were true he still could have gone elsewhere. Also notice this statement is past tense. Which means hindsight is 20/20. You never know until after the decision if it was right or not.

When the best coach in NFL history says this about you, people will listen. So yes, i believe people from other states will be sold on a foundation of excellence that he has exhibited.

Why would you have to do that? They aren't from Louisiana.

Obviously if LSU is good enough for elite OOS kids, it goes without saying it should be good enough for in-state ones.

LSU is an elite program, has more players on NFL rosters than anybody, and can win championships as long as championship caliber players decide to go there. If it's home, why not represent?

yet it seems that that isn't a problem any more. somehow, they bring the child with them and "somebody" takes care of them.
