Kahlil Whitney 2019 5 Star SF transferring from Kentucky

6’6 190 and was ranked #11 overall in the country coming out of high school.
He hails from Roselle Catholic High school in New Jersey which is the Alma Mater of Naz Reid. He’s only started 8 games this season.
“My time at Kentucky has not gone as I had hoped,” Whitney wrote in a statement released on his twitter page, “and I therefore need to make a difficult decision quickly to put myself back in to the best position possible as I continue to develop and work towards my ultimate goal.
“I’ve realized since high school that the business of basketball waits for no one, and sometimes tough choices need to be made in order to progress.”
In the last 7 games he’s been averaging less than 6 minutes.
Marlon Taylor is gone after this year and Manning is a Junior. He and Leblanc will be the only wings on the team next year with length. We should at least gauge his interest.

What would be the repercussions if he transferred to a different team in the same conference? Extra time he has to wait? Whitney was a McDonald's AA and you are right. With LSU's lack of wing depth next season he would be a welcome addition.

Conferences generally have a one year penalty in addition to the usual two semesters.
My guess is he will go to a Big 10 or Big East school.
Exceptions are made for grad transfers, family waivers, and weird things like when Mike Gbinije wanted to leave Duke and go to Syracuse and then Syracuse joined the ACC.

That dude isn't playing another minute of college basketball. He's leaving UK because he's barely getting minutes and he wants the NBA asap. He's gonna train for the draft and hope to be a 2nd round pick
