This is a classic Saban tactic. He gets kids to "flip" late causing other schools to back off of other commits.

Have to ease up on the importance of relationship recruiting and just WIN...

I heard he called at the last minute, right before the midnight hour. No dignity or integrity by the Surtains, and I really thought they were better than that. Him and his son fell for the pomp and parade grandeur bullshite of two weeks before.

If you let Saban get the later visit, you have to be prepared for the possibility that he flipped him.

You want the last visit, that's recruiting 101.

I'm sure Saban told him to keep it under his hat until the 11th hour. When that interview with Surtain, Sr. happened when he said something like, "I told him you need to do what's best for you, and not to worry about hurt feelings," I knew in my gut he was going to Alabama. Apparently, he was worried about doing that to Coach Raymond after all the years of work he put in on recruiting Surtain. I still think it was very immature of him to wait until 11:00 the night before NSD to left Orgeron know. It really was a dick move.

The problem that LSU had control over - trying to sign 2 cb instead of 1 in this class was a major part of the problem.

LSU could not control how the Surtains handled the situation but the should have controlled the LSU part better.
