Why are we not recruiting this guy? He does have family from Louisiana and they seemed kinda pissed everyone is offering but LSU

Last year he threw for over 5,100 yards and 62 TD’s and ran for another 1,300 and 15 TD’s on the ground.

The kid is a legit athlete. I would at least kick the wheels and feel him out. However, offers now days don’t just get mailed out to you. The school usually calls and gets to know you and wants you to come camp with them before extending an offer.

True. People forget that many times they want to make the presentation of an offer 'special'. Such as the offer ceremonies we do now.

Do it in our building, with many of team there, most of the staff, and hopefully with several recruits. The idea of 'integrating' all of them that early has a huge marketing effect. Not to mention it is just more classy.

For the record, I'm hoping/assuming that is what the plans are for Quad.

I'm all for offering because the kid is blowing up. Still would be cautious of USC and especially UCLA. Kelly is likely to be all over him and Michael Johnson. Fit his scheme well

Cali kids never work out for us. I say go ahead and offer but don’t put all your hopes on the kid.

This is also the school with the 6'8 WR Darren Jones for 2019 and had top-15 WDE for 2018 in Jeremiah Martin, who had 30 sacks his senior year and signed with Texas A&M

Missed opportunities abound

Agree but we have at least secondary ties to the state through former USC staffers so no harm in trying. We've had contingents of CA come in for 2 straight years so we have some ground out there. Kids are the most nomadic they've ever been and spots are limited, especially at QB, so offer and see what happens. We can't afford to not go after any kid worth his salt at QB.

Well this was interesting.

quote:

Elias Ricks is one of the top 2020 defensive backs in California, if not the country, and he landed an offer from LSU during a visit there last weekend.

It was such a good trip to Baton Rouge the Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout considered committing on the spot.

“The first thing that happened was coach (Ed Orgeron) offered me so that started off really good and the whole thing was good,” Ricks said. “On the trip, I nearly committed. They treated me like royalty.”

Cause he so tiny. Needs to pack 60 lbs quick, maybe that why. He will get killed on the field in college

6’3 200 would be fine and he would have 2 years to get to that size.

Would be great if we actually sign a few of those across country. But lately it seems we get occupied with those and lose good ones from close by.
