In recruiting which would you rather, a state with quality or quantity?

Which would be more important in your opinion, a state with few 4 or 5 star recruits, but the few are some of the best in the nation, or a state with many 3 stars that can fill every position on the team?

We’re in a state that’s right in between. We have a few 5 stars every year, but we have alot of 3 star, guys that can be depth.

I'd venture to guess they are one and the same.

Imo depends on what type of program I'm running, if I'm running a bottom barrel mid tier program it's an uphill battle to keep those 4,5 stars home with the bamas, UGAs, etc tugging at em

Quantity, because even if there are not as many 4-5 star players proportionally speaking compared to a smaller state, in the larger states there are simply more elite players period because the population is larger.

Plus hitting on a 3-star player is simply a numbers game. The more available the more likely you are to find a diamond in the rough. I prefer a state with a larger number of players so that you can get the math to work in your favor.

I don’t about 5 stars vs 3 stars, I just wish Louisiana had more quality lineman!

Quantity. People that say LA has both are just fooling themselves.

There are years where there won't be positions good enough to get from LA to compete in the west. Texas, Florida, Georgia, don't have to leave the state. Just the numbers of players drafted from those states dwarf Louisiana. They can support multiple teams.

Now maybe for the other schools, LA is fine, loaded with athletes. But to compete at the highest level, you have to look elsewhere at times to fill all positions.

Well considering Louisiana ranks 7th out of the 50 states for players currently playing in the NFL, and when bearing in mind LSU does not have in state competition, I'd argue it's not foolish at all.

No program can compete for championships year after year, recruiting from one state. Maybe not even one region. The question is anachronistic.
