To each their own. Humans waste money at an extraordinary pace, what's a dollar? Even 10 a month like I pay. It's not your money.
I personally pay Shea and Co because I like to support Shea who I've followed for years, there are real insiders on their board and primarily to read other teams boards. Contrary to popular belief, there are genuine insiders out there and still a useful space for them. So what the info can turn on a dime. We should be used to wrong/bad info. Our insiders have been passing it along for years. To combat that I like to read what the other side is saying. Also you learn how kids become takes and not takes, how boards are set up, what's being paid(or a ballpark), who's in strife perceived or otherwise(Ohio St) etc. Useful space. The entertainment is well worth the $10 to me. Cheaper than a movie.

There's not much "inside info" on those boards these days. The benefit of the subscription is the fewer idiots you have to comb through to get to the actual quality posts.
