I don't know if Shelton Sampson is the highest-rated player in Louisiana...

...I haven't paid any attention to the rankings. I just don't care all that much about them anymore.
What I will say is his film is the best in the state. It's the best film I've seen of a Louisiana high school wide receiver since Jamarr Chase's film.
That kid is as polished a wide receiver coming out of high school as you'll see, and he's a big, strong kid who can high-point the ball and he runs like a gazelle.
If he doesn't have a crazy, legendary career at LSU I'll be shocked. And with this being Boutte and Jaray Jenkins' last year, I'd actually be surprised if Sampson doesn't come in right away and become a first or second option in the passing game his freshman year.
That's not a slam on Bech or Nabors, mind you (or Thomas or Hilton). They're all good players who'll do fine and maybe/probably play in the league. But Sampson is special. I think he's going to be better than Boutte, and I like Boutte a lot.

Boutte is better than every receiver who has ever played at LSU except Chase. Future NFL HOFer.

He’s the best “big” WR in the country IMO.
Sampson and Heard are the 2 best players in the state this year IMO.

Sampson's film is better than Boutte's was.
And Boutte's film was damn good.
But Boutte's not a big monster like Sampson. Boutte runs away from people, which he does very effectively. Sampson can also outmuscle them.

His film is good but a little one dimensional.
Landon Ibietta, Chris Hilton, Jack
Brian Thomas looked at least as good
LA is loaded every year at WR

Sampson got it done against Welch, Austin Ausberry, Jordan Allen, Matthews.
He’s ready for the SEC.

He’s not a 1 trick pony dude. Go back and watch his jr. film again.
He can only run the routes he’s given, and they are more diverse than you are giving him credit for.

Sampson had a much better QB on a much better team. Boutte carried Westgate. Not to negate what Sampson’s done, but Boutte’s film is impressive despite playing on a decent yet inferior team. I remember watching Devery Henderson playing on Opelousas and thinking how insane that guy would be on a better team. He broke long arse runs on teams like it was nothing, and they’d still lose 35-14.

You’re being serious?

Westgate is a pretty good program and light years better than Opelousas

Don’t think the guy who represented LSU at SEC Day will be benched.

Hell Jefferson is the best receiver in the nfl right now

Best NFL doesn’t mean best LSU receiver.
Josh Reed gets my vote.
Then..
Chase
Wendall
Bowe
Jefferson
Clayton

That’s what I’m saying. But the qb Catholic has is light years better than Westgates qb when Boutte played. There’s literally no comparison. A lot easier to produce highlights when you have a qb that can actually get the ball to you.

I will take Jarvis Landry over everyone on that list.
