Louisiana has not had enough diversity of positions in the last couple years. I am hopeful for 2022. I am seeing a much better mix of positions in that top 10. Still light in the trenches although we are seeing one or two a year.

He has 4 quality OL including a 5* OT. That is a good haul. I would drop one of the WDE and add a DB.
If you look at the DB numbers on the roster versus the number of times we are running nickel and dime, that is a real lack of depth at a critical position.
Good teams usually play only 5 or 6 OL outside of blowouts. LSU last year was the exception rather than the rule.

Projection is a little too much of a Miles class IMO. Need more beef, and I think Orgeron has made it apparent that O-Line/D-Line are going to be a huge emphasis every class

last year addressed any shortage. Moving to 4-3 reduces the beef requirement. on a 3-4, you need 3 big guys.
We are short of DB depth. With the amount of nickel and dime we play, this is a real issue.

This, but replace the word “reduces“ with the word “increases”

with the increased use of the spread, defenses are using more smaller, faster players than before. Look at the number of 7 DB formations LSU faced last year.
When Saban lined up Spears and Hill at DE in a 4-3, both bigger than the DT, it was not normal for college football. It certainly is not normal now that everyone is spreading the field. If you want to play a DT a SDE, that is your business and in fact makes sense if you are facing a power run offense. Remind me again who LSU is facing next year that is not running a spread?

Lets take another look at DE. Who were the top 10 DE in last years draft. The AJC has noone over 275# :
1) Chase Young, Ohio State, 6-foot-5, 264
2) K’Lavon Chaisson, LSU, 6-3, 254
3) Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State, 6-5, 266
4) A.J. Epenesa, Iowa, 6-5, 275
5) Terrell Lewis, Alabama, 6-5, 262
6) Josh Uche, Michigan, 6-1, 245
7) Curtis Weaver, Boise State, 6-2, 265
8) Bradlee Anae, Utah, 6-3, 257
9) Jonathan Greenard, Florida, 6-3, 263
10) Jabari Zuniga, Florida, 6-3, 264

To be fair, I have seen Marlon Davidson, DE/DT, Auburn
Height: 6-3. Weight: 303 listed as a DE. However, most of the Draft analysis podcasts I listened to suggest he would be played inside most of the time. Other analysts have said some teams play "positionless" defenses where big DE are valued since they can be moved around as needed.

It's pretty balanced and has plenty of beef. The 4 OL are all national level guys and the target send to be 4 unless the Brockermeyer twins want in.
As for the DL, DE is really our major need and this group would address that. Jones likely develops into a SDE but he's twitchy enough to play both sides. Jackson very similar. Koht is a WDE but his body has time to be bigger than many these days. Hundley and Smith are enough with what weve got at DT. The push for Foreman won't stop and adding him would make that DL group too notch. The OLB kid may even develop into a WDE down the road.
