My Dad had a coversation a while back with the coach for W Monroe. He said that when Cam visited the Gumps, they rolled out the red carpet, had Saban and other coaches waiting on him along with a few influential players. They bacically catered to his every need and made him feel wanted and important.
On his LSU visit, the coach said Cam was clueless about where to go, and that they ended up parking in the field and had to walk a ways to see where to go. They didn't give him direction and he felt like they showed no interest in him just by the lack of a welcoming. It took several hours before he got to meet with Les.
He said that just the way he arrived at each campus and the way that the coaches and staff treated him, that he made it seem Bama wanted him more. I think that put a chip on his shoulder that LSU didn't show him the same type of treatment he got at Bama. There were other factors between the two visits, but coming from the mouth of his coach......wow, the staff dropped the ball big time. If the staff would of given him the same type of, or even better treatment, then I think things would have been different.
Lets hope we start pulling out the red carpet from here on out.

Yeah that was same day I was talking about a couple weeks ago. I talked about the incident when it happened on here. The consensus was, "They're only juniors. Who cares? Our coaches were busy coaching. This won't have any affect on their recruitment. If they have a problem, they can go somewhere else".

Well, so sayeth the board he'll be committing sooner rather than later being he's gonna be an early enrollee. Staff needs to do something here. Can't allow Hootie to leave state. We're in deep need of safeties. He's a stud safety and yes there are others, but he's a stud. Guess we'll find out if the staff starts to move on kids like M. McGraw. This is starting to be a concern. We'll just all have to wait and see I guess.
This is one of the very many reasons that I hope aTm trucks bama completely out of Kyle field!!

This isn't hard to figure out when you put these two together. He's always seemed to have a Smoke Laval level of energy about him. And if Ensminger has connections up there, he should be living up there-what the Hell else does he contribute to this staff besides being able to pop a brat?

are two very different things. Seems like Jimmy D is kind of hedging his bets here to me.
It means he is leaning towards leaving the state IMO. P
retty obvious to me if true...

Somebody needs to get up there two or three times a week. The complacency needs to stop.

I used to help LSU recruit the Coastal Virginia area, which is full of major talent. Since some of my contacts have left, they basically have told me to "stop helping". LSU totally dropped the ball when we had Justin Hunter wrapped up. I'm not sure what you call it, "red carpet" or just common sense, but I think they need some good Southern hospitality lessons.

I don't put much into what this guy 300 miles away from hootie says. Now speedy/GW maybe so. No one up here and I mean no one has any idea where he leaning...all I know what I hear/see. But I can tell you he/family won't be persuaded by cars/$$$. He will go to a place that's best for him not where a couple of 18 year old kids want him to go. He is smart enough to know this. He will go where he will get most playing time/exposure. Take this for what it's worth.

I think maybe the LSU coaches feel like the school sells itself and in a sense it does but if all the other schools that "sell their self" are going the extra mile then its going to give these recruits the feeling that they want them more. I don't know how important it actually is give the recruit the impression that your school wants them more than the other schools but it seems to be at the top of most of their list.

I do find it concerning that with Cam Leonard fournette and now Hootie the word seems to be we aren't recruiting them the hardest. That does concern me.

It's funny to hear this now, because I swore when cam rob visited LSU we supposedly blew his socks off and he was then leaning towards LSU.

I don't believe for a second they aren't recruiting LF Hootie speedy GW hard enough
They have bought the farm with LF so why wouldn't they recruit him hard....they are up a creek if he doesn't go to lsu

This, definitely. It's something we've heard from major recruits for years. We get guys we want much more often than we miss on them, but we don't have the incredible recent track record with our top LA recruits that we should with the success the program has had.
We've missed on Tim Williams (who, yes, we did offer and recruit), Landon Collins, Toshiro Davis, Greg Robinson, Trovon Reed, Janzen Jackson, and others. It's very likely that this group gets several people larger this year.
At one time or another we were all of their dream school and likely destination until other schools came in and took them away. I get that we can't get them all, but it's alarming when all of those players said we were not recruiting them as hard as another school or schools.
