Help a non-RB regular to understand our current recruiting situation w/ OL

First I'll start by saying I come to the RB only infrequently so I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. That being said, I'll ask the following question with the realization that the answer has probably been covered many times on this board already.
My questions are these. Clearly the O-line is an area of need and I see that we only have 1 OL commit with others being pursued but by no means in the bag. What is the coaching staff's strategy? How many more players are reasonably expected to commit and what has kept us from getting more offensive linemen committed?
Obviously O knows we need more linemen and yet here we are behind as time runs out on the first signing period. I feel like we get in this situation with the Offensive line more often than not. Either not enough numbers or too many projects and not enough homeruns (ala La'el Collins type players).
I liken it to Auburn inexplicably having 12 recruits and being ranked in the 40's...they know they need a good recruiting class but here they are in trouble at crunch time for seemingly no reason at all.

Sounds like we put all of our eggs into the Tristan Leigh basket which right now is 50/50 (he's telling both us and OU that he's coming).
We are going to go after some transfers and JUCO's. But regardless, we should be pulling in 3-4 OL every class. If Cregg doesn't pull Leigh, he's definitely outty 5000

The plan is to sign 3 and probably get a transfer

Kimo(FSU guard commit), Jordan Mako, few others im not as familiar with and were in the transfer market.

Whatever is isn't it hasn't been great.
Here are the three players that LSU wants to get/shot with at this time.

Recruiting isn't over. Lots of things can happen. It may be more important for us to land some junior college and/or grad transfers this year.
How this recruiting class plays out will likely not be known until the summer.

Your response is what I'm getting at...We always seem to strike out on our "swing for the fences" recruits and then we fall back on some 3 star 3rd and 4th choice recruits with a Harvard transfer to round things out. Meanwhile Bama lands a 5 star and 3 4star linemen every year. I just don't see us having a long term winning recruiting strategy at offensive line from year to year. And this goes back to Miles too. He was forever recruiting guards and trying to make them tackles instead. It's just baffling to me how we can get studs all over the field committed and signed except at the most important position on the field save for the QB position.

LSU better not screw around with the '22 in-state lineman next class.. I won't get my hopes up.

Not sure how the staff feels about those three, but combined with Dellinger, that would be a great 4-man class.
Moko says he's got 4 to play 4. I'm assuming this was his only year to play at JUCO, and the year doesn't count.

There will be guys in the portal we can get who will have more eligibility left and who will be immediately eligible thanks to the new one-time waiver rule. Someone posted a solid looking soph center from Michigan who’s in the portal and shopping in a previous thread. We won’t be limited to JUCO and grad transfer short-term rentals anymore.

Even Grad Transfers will have two years.
The JUCO guy Moko has 4 to play 4.

That seems lazy and short sited.
Putting all the eggs for Leigh is equally as dumb. Why can't we real in 4 4*s consecutively each year?
The trenches is where it starts. OSU, Clemson, Bama get it every year. We have been struggling

That’s pretty cool. Sounds like a cat who we know a lot more about than a high school player

True. I’m thinking more going forward.

If there is a big 22 class next year, LSU may be limiting spots to the elite guys this year by design.

Linemen is how you win. You get as many quality guys as you can.

LSU may save some spots for grad transfers in the spring or summer.
But they won’t roll any spots to 2022. They need bodies now, or they may not see 2022.
