re: Harvard Eric Wilson leaning towards Penn State now
I take zoom U at LSU. Most of the classes don’t have proctoring for classes. If his were that way, he’s just lazy, which he has a college degree so not like I blame him tho

re: Harvard Eric Wilson leaning towards Penn State now
Can anyone explain how it makes sense to disallow grad transfers in a year like this where you aren’t even counting the academic year against eligibility and anyone can transfer anywhere and be eligible immediately? I mean can we just say he “opted out”? LSU being able to sign any transfer in America to play immediately except for graduates makes zero sense.

Hines?

He was missing assignments all year

He is the weakest link on the o line.

Agreed. If anyone I were to point to as a failure to develop it is him.

Not only assignments. He gets sloppy with technique too often (and too fast- conditioning?), with that sloppiness is pad level, and isn't taking first punches very well.

As the season went on he got worse mainly because he didn't get better. By that I mean opponents had identified weaknesses and were more and more taking advantage of them while at the same problem he wasn't correcting them.

I guess you could say "in his defense":
- injury may have been one of the reasons he failed to improve, at least a factor
- early in the year Liam wasn't getting the best calls in, which wasn't helped by inexperienced QBs. But Liam cleaned his part up and Hines only marginally got better with the blown assignments.

I said the same thing in another thread. So, I don’t really believe this is true.

could have stopped there.

A) much about the response to this virus makes little to no sense.

B) The NCAA often makes as much sense as a duck riding a football wearing a top hat all while licking on a piece of sausage like a tootsie pop.

All these rule changes aren't changes at all. They are either extensions of exceptions or temporary exceptions. I have yet to figure out if they are motivated by virtue signaling, fear of litigation, or good ole "do something even if you don't know what to do". Actually, most of it is indeed based upon having players feeling obligated to participate in team activities (fear of litigation). So they are giving the players the ability to not participate with no harm no foul.

So they haven't waived/excepted that particular rule. The reason being is because it is a penalty on the school, not the player. If we can't take one because of Cox, the player has over 130 other options.

Can someone plz explain the issue with Jabril? He didn’t take enough classes? Didn’t make a minimum GPA? And that disqualifies future grad transfers...?

I believe he didn't finish his classes and therefore didn't keep the correct gpa.

Same thing that happened with terrence alexander. I put that on the coaches too. Im surprised jabril cox did that to be honest

Your surprised someone who is about to hit the jackpot with a multimillion dollar payday as a 2nd to 3 rd round draft pick would say f grad school I’m going to focus on my career/ combine training instead . I honestly think almost any rational person would do the same.

How exactly does that ruling work out in regards to Grad transfers and academics?

Not recently, have they? I don't think I've read anyone say this since Ingram announced he was returning. If Wilson is going to be a guard, I could see us pushing for him if we have open competition at both guard spots. But with Ingram coming back, I think we're only looking for someone to step up at RG (I know Hines is the incumbent starter, but I feel this is going to basically be an open competition this spring and summer).

re: Harvard Eric Wilson leaning towards Penn State now
I understand the kid is about to get paid handsomely from being a high draft pick in the NFL, but I also feel that it is kind of shitty for a guy to negatively impact the immediate future of the program (by not maintaining grades, and thus, disallowing LSU to take grad transfer next year).

Seems to me, LSU did him a solid by giving him a spot to showcase his skill in the SEC (and potentially improve his draft stock). IMO, the least the kid should do is take care of his business in such a way that he leaves the program in a similar position as to when he arrived. As it it stands now, a kid in his identical position won’t be afforded the same opportunity next season.

Either way, I appreciate the effort Cox put on the field this past year. He played hard every week, and was one of the few bright spots on defense

Cox just didn't seem like the type of kid that would do this

Seemed very grounded and down to earth

I think this problem is more about a stupid rule as opposed to a morality issue with Cox. Obviously he was here to play football and not get a PhD in communications or some bull shite. He did his job IMO.

I like how the line looked with Wire in at RG. I know he's a little bigger, and our back up tackle, but the line looked way better with him in the game.

re: Harvard Eric Wilson leaning towards Penn State now
I agree. Its a stupid rule

Cam wire did look good at guard in pass pro.

Just think you need a mauler at right guard. Hines will have competition, you can bet on that
