Class is excellent and for the most part fills various needs which is key. In the next few years there is no reason for us finishing any lower than 3. This class needs to be viewed as a positive but not as a ceiling. The standard has to change and that starts with recruiting. How Georgia is doing what they are doing is beyond me, but instead of bitching about it we need to replicate it. We have the assets and on field success to match any of these other regular top 2-3 recruiting programs and going forward there is not really an excuse for us to not do so. I believe in O to get it done as he has shown that he is the guy to fix a weakness when he sees one. Hire other successful schools recruiting staff to replicate their system, up our recruiting budget, establish a better network In BR, whatever it takes. Ultimately, all I'm saying is that we should never be satisfied. Not a knock on this class or the staffs job on the recruiting trail, but I expect to get downvoted.

Any kid who wouldn't want to come play for O after seeing our team both on and off the field this year needs to be analyzed by a psychiatrist.

That's somewhat what I'm getting at. We are doing good but we need to do better and that entails making changes. We gotta do more of what these regular top 1-3 recruiting schools are doing, and by god do it better.

I would like to see you explain the difference in the No.3 and No.4 class.

Sure he can. He could fill it right now with some 3/4 stars. But trying for the elite guys means risking some slots staying open. Guess what? We have 3 spots to use on transfers or next year's class. I am okay with that.

You may be the dumbest poster here repeating this in different threads.
Without that statistic we never sign Joe Burrow and probably don’t win the National Championship.
If you’re here to berate Coach O, I’m not falling for it.
LSU is the 2019 National Champions. We beat Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Clemson along the way.
Go cry somewhere else.

Orgeron's tendency for not signing 25 players allows for guys like Joe Burrow and Damien Lewis to come in as transfers. Colleges that aim for always signing 25 true freshmen out of high school have the wrong priority.

Now of course, if you can get 25 of the best prospects on your list, then go ahead, but that is rarely EVER the case. If I was O, I'd sign 22-23 every year and check out the transfer portal to find guys with experience that can be INSTANT impact players. It's always great to develop players through experience in their freshman year, but the transfer market is an extremely useful tool that O is definitely looking at.

Keeps his options open for transfers. That’s how he got some guy named Joe Burrow. That was a pretty good get. Or he can sign a couple extra next year when winning a NC will really help you.

Would you rather finish 4 on a regular basis or would you rather go from 4 to 3 to 1, and then continuously hover in the 1-3 range? That is what I'm trying to point out. 4 is awesome but we should never be satisfied. Just like a national championship is incredible, but just saying that you'd be okay with one is foolish in my eyes. We just need to make some small changes. I don't have any insider information, but I can assume that our network is not as sophisticated as GA's or Bama's. That needs to change eventually.

What I'm saying has nothing to do with how many we sign. I'm totally all in on getting solid transfers to fill needs. I'm just talking about some of the guys (maybe 1 or 2) every year that we could pull if we just were a little bit more organized.

Orgeron could've signed 100 players had he wanted to.

The fact that people such as yourself can't recognize that these scholarships are valuable and they should not waste them.

Right or wrong, the staff believed that these fan favorite players, along with others that decommitted or were told to look around, were not worthy of playing for LSU.

It does LSU no good to sign a player that is not good enough, so he either soaks up a scholarship for 4 or 5 years or transfers.

We are better off not signing anyone, taking a transfer or rolling the scholarships over to next year.

I'm fine with leaving 3 spots open for transfers that want to play with us rather than getting 3 guys who never had the chest to begin with. I mean look at our transfers for the past few years. They have all been extremely good pickups for the most part.

This. By now O has done his research and knows that transfers/2021 class is where these spots need to go.

exactly. once you realize the talent level in the 2021 class, people are going to be wishing we took even less players this year to have more spots for next year.

2021 is going to be an absolutely crucial class for us to replenish certain positions.

Agree. But a lot of our 2021 recruits will have to be OOS guys (aside from a few positions like WR). Our ability to recruit will be put to the test no doubt.

Exactly! I suspect these idiots are the same ones that bitch when we take a 3*

I'm still wondering how we land Burrow if we had 25 players taken every recruiting cycle. Math... it's tough.

Not to mention it might be nice having a couple extra spots for transfers, or Jackson gets his grades, or just to use on the deeper instate class next season.

I honestly believe O is about go HAM on the trail. What Kirby pulled off at GA this cycle will motivate him too. He said Bama would not beat us in recruiting and I believe him (just like when he said We Comin). He just needed to get that Natty first. I think he will bring in our highest rated class in history...with 28 spots who knows maybe he gets the highest ever. That’s how good of a recruiter he is.
