It is a little odd and you may have a point to a degree.

I'm not hitting the panic button on either Roy or Guillory at this point. LSU has something Bama won't be able to offer either of them...immediate playing time as a true freshman.

Neither of those kids would get much of it at Bama in '20.

Back to Ford (which was the topic of the thread) I don't see a problem with the staff moving on if he didn't look good at camp due to injuries or what have you.

I would be satisfied with nabbing Dumervil ,Crawford, and Van Pran at this point and signing just 4 Olmen. We don't have a numbers issue at OLine anymore. We have a talent issue at OT.

Do not hurt them with the truth. Some LSU fans get a little sensitive when the truth is being told. I been said this when Sopsher picked Bama on signing day and I received over 30 down votes. Lol keep not producing 1st round draft picks on the defensive line and we will continue to lose top defensive line recruits to Bama.

Everybody is blaming Meatball when our HC has been a lifetime D-Lineman coach? There's enough blame to go around to everyone on this staff for failing to bring in elite guys in the trenches.

Why isn't anybody giving Coach Cregg the same treatment for the lack of high rated O-line recruits?

Everybody isn’t, I heap a ton of blame at the feet of O for the DL and OL recruiting.

If “Eaux” loses Guillory and Roy, 2020 will be his last season as head coach. Absolutely cannot happen

Is he? Or is he trying to avoid some of the mistakes he made at Ole Miss having his hand in everything. I think he hired Pete Jenkins specifically so he could not worry about the DL for that year and bring meatball along. With him gone, no telling how much direct involvement he has, but it's clearly not enough to have influenced a lot of local big time DL kids recently. O isn't in the same position he was where he could be on the road recruiting mostly DLinemen in the offseason like he was before becoming coach, a lot more responsibilities now.

O facetimed Roy from the NFL draft live. This says he's definitely involved with these guys.

Saban has all the momentum right now with all the titles & the College Playoff/BCS Championships - 8 of the last 10 years, and the NFL Draft as ya'll have said. Why wouldn't the best all want to go there? Dabo is the only one that can win head to head recruiting battles with him because they are starting to beat them. No other coach can win recruiting battles against him. He takes who he wants, no matter where they are, against any coach, unless they were born into an Auburn family, hating Bama. Unless we start beating them nothing will change until he retires. Meatball is not the problem, I don't care who you bring in as a DLine coach. O is known as a top notch recruiter, and I believe he is, and if he is losing recruiting battles against Saban, it's because we keep losing to them. If you want to argue that you want to bring in a different coach instead of O that can win on the field against them, then ok. Until then, everyone wants to play for a winner, 0-8 is not it.

It's a Catch 22.
Need top recruits to beat Bama
Need to beat Bama to get top recruits.

1) it’s not a catch 22. It’s simply changing your scheme. Our defense can minimize Bama’s scoring, the offense needs to produce. Coach O screwed around for 2 years on piss poor OC hires because he has NO VISION for the style of offense he wants.

2) Dabo had a vision for his team and he hired the guys to make it happen. That vision took years to implement but it’s finally there and now the players are coming with it.

3) We can scheme around our OT issues. Fix the offense and make it exciting. Make kids want to be apart of it and have the media talk about our offense with excitement. Create great plays that bring energy and are talked about on social media. We have to do that because all these recruits hear are negative stuff about our offense for the last 10 years. Defeat the narrative first then you have something to sell to recruits.

Team is stacked at a position, so instead of going to the team that needs that position, you go to the team that's stacked. Then when you don't play the first or second year due to the team being stacked, you want to transfer.

Dude, we do the same thing at DB.

It's not some foreign concept. If a team cranks out players at a certain position, players want the best tutelage they can get so they'll wait to get it if they have to.

Correct Les was fired for exactly the reason was that he refused to make Adjustments in game and eventually in recruiting...

O just has to do it..

If he is that’s dumb. It’s the only thing he’s really good at.

He should be heavily involved in all matters defensive line; recruiting, developing, everything. That's his expertise.

I think people only said "let the coaches coach" in areas that he doesn't have experience in coaching, like the offense. If there's one thing we all thought he'd be crushing things, it would be with defensive line recruiting and player development.

That is incredibly deflating in a year where (a) there are multiple good-to-elite DL in state and (b) we need them all...

its amazing to me that O is openly identifying this as the gap between us and Bama and we still can’t do a damn thing to close it. Insanely frustrating.
